    1. I can pull the thread toward me fine and spool turns just like it is supposed too. But, when I thread the machine and start to embroider, that is when the thread does not feed thru the machine at all. Nothing is unravelling from the spool.

The way you are explaining your problem makes me think your. spool is knotted. Check it buy pulling out and unraveling the thread. This may answer your question. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Try readjusting your needle. It may have loosened and moed upward.

My Brother PE 770 will work for about a minute then the upper thread will get so tight that it will break. How do I fix this?

Check that the thread has not wrapped around the thread spool pin or one of the thread guides. Something is holding the thread from unwinding from the thread spool. Old style thread spools also have the small slit to hold the thread tail which will tend to catch the thread (turn the spool over). Sounds like the symptoms I've experienced with this problem.

Tip

Sewing Machine & Serger Problems

If you are experiencing stitching problems with your sewing machine and serger, try raising the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread. This releases the thread tensioner while threading, but when you lower the presser foot, the tensioner is activated to control the thread's tension.

Never remove the upper thread by grabbing the spool and pulling the thread tail backwards through the needle eye, thread guides, and tensioner. To remove the upper thread, clip the thread below the spool, raise the presser foot, then gently grab the thread tail by the needle's eye and pull the remaining thread through.

I want to know how to fix thread from top to needle

Always start from the thread spool pin, install your thread spool to the spool pin & put on the spool holder, pull end of thread to go thru the top thread guide then down to the tension disc(follow the arrow pointer if there is),up to the thread take up lever arm from left to right and down to the needle thru the needle clam guide(just below its needle clam screw)then enter the needle eye from front to back. Turn your hand wheel towards you to bring needle bar down into the bobbin case, keep turning till needle comes fully up, pull out your top thread end & this should bring up the bobbin thread then you be ready to sew.

How do I thread a Janome JFS 1817 for double needle function?

you thread it the same as for a single needle
only you add one more spool of thread & thread thru the same
thread guides as the first needle & then thread the second needle
with the thread from the second spool,
also you have to have a spool holder for the second spool

The upper thread is constantly breaking. What is wrong?

rethread the machine
check the top tension-usually 3 or 4 is good
change the needle & make sure it's inserted correctly (flat side to the back of machine)
some needles & thread do not work togeather--try this

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

also make sure the thread tail are 3-6 inches long & pulled behind the needle

Why does my upper thread keep breaking

try rethreading the machine
check your top thread tension
check to see if the needle is the correct size for thread
here's how to tell
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread
check to see if needle is bent-roll on flat surface to see if it rolls correctly
thread could be caught on the spoop pin or on the notch on the spool of thread

Brother 8500D sewing/emb machine - upper thread stops feeding

If the thread is hanging up at the spool - this could be the way it was manufactured, a nick in the spool end or the thread is unwinding too fast, puddling and wrapping around the spool pin.

Keep the bobbin case and surrounding area clean and free of thread tangles and snips. Thread tangles in this area can cause the machine to stop.

When the presser foot is down on any sewing machine, the tension closes and you cannot manually pull the thread through.

Sulky and C & C black tends to fray more than other brands of thread.

If the problem continues, the machine will need to be serviced by a professional.

Upper thread breaks ''inside''. Then thread pulls tightly. Must be re-threaded to sew.

Check the spool to make sure there isn't a nick in the cap where the thread can catch. If there is it can be smoothed with an emery board, or just turn the spool so the the thread feeds from the opposite end of the spool.

If the thread is unwinding too fast and pooling around the spool pin, you can use a thread net to help stop this.

Thread nets come in a long tube and you cut them to size. They can be found with machine embroidery supplies or at a dealer.
