you empty the lub out
and wash it out with petrol a few 10ml at a time and move it around

then once flushed out

you replace the oil with the makers recommeded fill level

and that is from the manual

1991 f150 5.0 put mechanical oil pressure gauge truck still reads low unless I hit the gas then it slowly moves back up what should I try next, and hoe can I tell if it is the motor that's bad

Look for worn hydraulic tappets. Do a leak down test. Check for excessive oil leakage on rocker pivot points. Try using a heavier grade oil ( 10w-20 to 30w-50)

Ariens lawn mower stalls & dies on a grade. Checked oil dip stick and saw almost none indicated. added approx. 2 ounces...ran fine on grade. After mower cooled to room temp. checked oil stick agai

incomplete question. 2 oz of oil would not make a diff or hardly raise the level on the dipstick if it was that low. or maybe your engine has a low oil senser to kill the engine when low on oil and the 2 oz. was just enough to get it started again? clarify problem. R

Just changed oil in kia sorento 06 manuel transmission oil light stays on and clatters

Hi there,

DANGER....this is telling you there is NOT enough oil pressure. The clatter you hear means inadequate oil is reaching the cams or lifters.

Can you confirm you have used the correct grade & viscosity of oil? Is oil leaking?

Please re-check the oil level again - allow vehicle to sit for 5mins, then check oil level on the ENGINE dipstick. If dipstick level is up to the full mark, then assume you have enough oil and let the engine idle for 5mins.

If the clatter remains, then suspect a problem with the oil pump, or oil filter causing a blockage.

Cheers,

Have a 99 model....been setting awhile and I just put a new battery on and was looking at the oil window and looks like I need to add some....lost my manual...what kind of oil should I use.

Remember to stand the bike upright before checking the oil level, if oil is needed you should speak to the shop who did your last service. Ask them the grade of oil they use as a standard, purchase some new oil and top up as nessesary. If you did the service yourself and you can't remember the type and grade of oil you used, it would be best to change it and enter the details into the service book. Remember to always check the oil level standing upright as the oil level on the side stand will be totally different.

The Oil light came on my 1998. It has no oil. What mihgt be the problem? Its a V6 Honda.

When was the last time you had the oil level checked. All engines use oil, its part of their design so you need to check the oil level at least weekly. Next, if the oil has leaked out, open the hood and look all over the engine for signs of obvious leakage. Oil stains or small pools of oil on or in crevices on the engine. Look under the car where it is usually parked, leaking oil drips downwards so you will see oil stains on your driveway if it has leaked out. Look under the car to see if there is oil stains on the chassis. All of these are pointers to a leak. If you can see signs of leakage, top up the level using the dipstick and take the car to your local garage. They can clean off the oil, run the engine and see where the leak is coming from. If you cannot see signs of leakage, it may be that the oil level was not kept up to the mark. If you recently had the vehicle serviced, did they refill the engine with the correct amount of oil..And using the wrong grade of oil is as bad as a low oil level. If the level is correct, check the oil pressure switch. This is a small switch that monitors the oil pressure and they do fail. If it has failed, it will need to be replaced as these switched are not repairable. If the vehicle has an oil level switch, again, it could be a failed switch so replace it. I am not familiar with this engine so I am unable to point you to these switches but your local garage will locate them very quickly for you..

If my low oil pressure light comes on for a sec does it mean it has low oil pressure or could it be the sensor

It should come on and go out while cranking to start. If it flashes while idling, you may want to have a mechanic put a pressure gauge on it. The fact that it goes out means the switch works.

Oil light comes on at certain times

First, check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is low, add the required amount of approved motor oil. If the level is correct and the light still comes on, there may be other issues.
