You don't say why you are using restore. If you interrupt by turning off the power it should hopefully go back to the old state. If it will start in safe mode ( press F8 while booting )there are several things to try;
1. Try the last good configuration from the menu, if this seems OK and starts then go to my computer, select the C; drive and right click on it, select properties then tools. Select disk check and select auto fix file system (don't select the surface scan) you should get a message telling you it cant do it & should it schedule a scan for next start up. Select yes. Then restart.
2. If all the above doesn't work try safe mode again and select the system restore option (it might do it properly from safe mode) you could also try a different restore point.
Good Luck

Go to microsoft office--> microsoft office tools--> microsoft office picture manager--> help--> detect and repair--> check restore my shortcuts while repairing.

This should restore all the microsoft office shortcuts.

I have been guilty of locating the program file, creating a shortcut to it, and cutting and pasting the shortcut to the desktop. Although it works, it is not pretty! The aforementioned solution is preferable.

C imagean't restore

The partition restoration process is extremely lengthy and time consuming, I would suggest trying to do it overnight and if after that it still seems stuck at 0%, then something must be wrong with the restorer.

I have a gateway netbook that i can not get to set up

Do a cold-start , unplug, remove battery, leave battery out during this process, plug in , push on/off button, and repeat the process.Remove any media, USBs, DVD/CDs, Cables, etc. Are you offered, in restore, different "Dates" to restore? If so choose another date to restore to. You may have to load the recovery partition, if all else fails. You could load a USB with your windows version repair disk, you didn't supply info, and at boot go to Boot Menu and direct the machine to load from the USB.

I have inadvertantly deleted the microsoft office word 2003 from my computer, now i can know longer get on to spread sheets, word etc....can you/I fix thisand get the program back?

Hello,

You can retrieve the program by doing a system restore. System restore will restore will restore your computer to a certain time to the past of your choice. All the programs that you have uninstalled will be retrieved. Here's the procedure.

(for windows 7 and Vista)

1. From within Windows, you can just type restore into the Start menu search box, and you'll immediately see System Restore at the top of the start menu.

2. You will immediate see a screen where you can choose to roll back the system to the last restore point.You have two options - recommended restore and choose a different restore point. Select the second choice.

3. Look for the date when you still had the MS office in your computer. Click next

4. Confirm the restoration and the computer will restart.

5. After the restart process, the computer will tell you whether the restoration is complete or not.

6. If it's not successful, repeat the same procedure but use a different restore point now. If the restoration is successful, then, check your MS office 2003.

(For Windows XP)

1. Go to START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE
2. Once the menu opens, just select a restore point and follow the onscreen instructions. The computer will restart and MS office will come back to your computer.

I hope this helps.

You will need to switch off the computer. The restore process might have been interrupted by certain factors yet to be known. So;

To switch off the computer, press the power button, holding it for about 10 seconds. (If it fails, remove the power cable and battery).

Switch on and start the process again. If the same happens, then your restore partition was tampered with. You might have to take to a technician for repair.
