1) If the round did not discharge, you must take this to a qualified gunsmith as the riffle could discharge when manipulating the bolt, safety, trigger, or due to mechanical shock. Make sure you transport the rifle with the muzzle pointed at something that can stop the bullet - consider a sandbag, phone books or several pieces of wood. Do not carry it in to the shop, ask them to come out and assess the gun

2) If the round discharged, do the following:

Empty the clip
Point the gun towards a safe location
try pushing the bolt forward and then rotating the bolt, once it moves do not put any forward or back pressure on the bolt

Failing that, repeat the process with the trigger pulled

Failing that, remove the trigger assembly if you know how

I highly recommend going to a gunsmith as the gun is not longer trustworthy once the bolt tangs are in question

If you want to see the results - look up blowback - think the entire bolt going through your eye and out the side of your head - seriously - bolt failures are extremely dangerous.

Charging handle frozen

Drift the two trigger group pins out, drop out he trigger group and look into the bottom. The linkage between the bolt and action bars is probably the problem.

Trigger on my Remington model 582 22 is froze up

Light lubes will freeze in cold weather. Try lubricating with a heavier lube. Any moisture onto bolt the isn't properly lubed will freeze the bolt or trigger assembly.

Marlin rifle model 795 jams intermittently

It takes about 250 rounds to break in a gun. Try some hotter ammo and see if the problem disappears, if so, call Marlin and ask them for their solution if you want to keep using Federal, you might want to try some Remington standard velocity target, it is very accurate in most guns.
I would shoot it for at least 500 rounds and clean it from powder debris in chamber and receiver bolt and trigger group and try it again, however don't hesitate to get a hold of Marlin, they are nice folks.

I just bought a Remington Model 742 Woodsmaster 30-06 at a large gunshow and noticed later that the bolt handle is only about 1/4 of an inch long, so it must have broken off at one point. Surely it was...

To remove the bolt, look at where the trigger enters the stock. There should be a little square/rectangle button right in front of it (inside the trigger guard, right in front of the trigger). Push that in and while holding it in, pull the bolt backwards (out). The bolt should come out pretty easy if you're holding the button in. Most gun shops can order a new bolt. Likewise, many of them carry diagrams/manuals or can get them for you. You may also find one online for free if you hunt/peck enough. I'm not sure about the plastic piece you are referring to. My Remington is steel all the way. No plastic on the bolt anywhere. The other option is to take the bolt to Cabela's or another gunsmith. Most of them (if they are competent) can repair the broken piece cheaper than buying a new bolt. They can also tell you if the plastic is normal. Just drop by with it and have them take a peek. estimates (and telling you if the plastic is normal) are usually free.

Remove bolt from 513 s remington rifle action

Point muzzle in safe direction.
Make sure it is unloaded chamber and clip !
Push safety off ( forward )
Pull trigger and pull bolt out at the same time.
Or sell to me ( have FFL ) just sold a 513 T that was to heavy for a old man.
