FYI, you do not have to be concerned with setting numerals/values when using the picture wizaard guide. Once you click on menu, the picture, then picture wizard, the wizard will automatically walk you through the choices for choosing the best, backlight, contrast, color, etc. Jusat try it and you will see what I an talking about. If there was no wizard then you would have to use trial and error to determine what your eye thinks is a good setting.

Use your eyes to determine quality; only they really know. FYI, when determining the best color and tint, when you view the setting, think to yourself, "do people really look like that color in real life"?

Testimonial: "HI, thanks for that. I was really looking for what numerals you would enter when setting up or adjusting the Backlight / contrast / brightness / colour etc. or a guide on what values to input when utilising the Picture wizard set-up. I'd be extremely grateful if I could receive some guidance or direction of any kind in this regard."

Unfortunately, I have never used the picture wizard set-up, although you could google the question for additional help; one thing I can tell you, using values and numerals to tell your eye that what it is seeing is suppose to be the right picture may not always work; your eyes are too intuitive; I can say that when you do start adjusting, do not adjust while a commercial is on the air.

Try this.... First, go into picture menu and reset it. Next turn contrast all the way up. Turn the sharpness all the way down. Make sure the tint is in the middle. Adjust brightnesses accordingly. If that don't work, just drop me a line and i will explain more

Best regards

Hi tammy,
Welcome to FixYa.
My name is John. I will be assisting you with your issue.
It sounds like something in the Horizontal circuit. Maybe
the IC or Flyback or both. As you said, this is a old set,
I believe it would be of best interest to just purchase another.
I hope you find this solution very helpful.
Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I still have a couple of these around,, they are really good sets,
how ever, the sweep tube is getting weak. You will need a tube checker to check it.
These tube,s are getting hard to find, and if you can find it, some are $100.00 a piece.
Some are even higher than that. If I can be of help, let me know.

Hi Suzette my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
First of all make sure you have an HD signal connected.
These days using a non HD box will produce a bad picture on an HD TV.
If using a cable/Dish box set the output resolution to 1081i only,
for picture controls set them all center and max out the picture/contrast control

If I have helped you with your issue please click accept.
If you have more questions you can still respond until this post expires,
I will reply asap
Thanks

Hi, I have just purchased the Samsung LE37A559 tv. I have been trying to get the best colour settings brightness colour contrast tint backlight etc. Is there a optimum setting for all of these ? I am...

The problem is that everyone has a different "taste" when it comes to these settings. I like to turn the color all the way down to start with. You should (if the set is factory adjusted correctly) have a black and white picture. If it's not B&W, then there's something inside the set that needs adjusted and you should get a service call. Then I adjust brightness and contrast to get the best B&W picture. Then I turn the color up until I'm happy with the color level, then I adust tint.

Hope that helps
