The most likely cause is a bad ignition coil, remove the coil wire from the distributor and attach an old spark plug to it, have a helper crank the engine, and see if the spark plug fires. If the plug does not fire then the coil is bad. If the plug fires, remove a plug wire from a spark plug and repeat the process. If no spark then the distributor cap may be bad? Also have you ruled out no gas???
Was the timing chain damaged ? Did you have spark from the coil before you replaced the other parts ? Do you have battery voltage on the positive side of the coil with the key on and in crank mode ? Is the coil wire not sparking, or are you not getting spark at the plugs ? Is the distributor rotor turning when you crank the engine ?
do you have injector pulse? the "hall effect" you mentioned is the camshaft position sensor it times the injectors to the ignition fire. the coil is actually triggered by the crankshaft sensor . is the rotor turning while starter is engaged, if not the drive gear pin could be sheared and not getting the spark out to the wires.GOOD LUCK.
Check the coils first, leaving the key on may have burnt out part of your ignition system. Easiest way to check coils is to pull one lead off, plug a spark plug into it. Run a hot wire from the positive side of the battery to the coil ( Do Not Plug it in!!) . If you flash the wire on and off the power side of the coil it should make a spark jump across the sparkplug ( don't forget to earth the base of the plug.) If the coils are ok, see if you can borrow a CDI unit to try in your bike ( it is good to have mates with the same brand of bike ) Don't forget to check all fuses first and make sure the "Kill Switch" on the handlebars is on. Happy fault finding.
Take the round cover off the right side of the cam cover above the oil filter and try starting the bike - it has a small red led that flashes every time it sparks. if it doesn't flash - change it. it is bad.
Samantha,
Electrical problems can be either, coil, (most common) stator, magneto, or timing. Make sure the coil is grounded to the frame of the quad and not against a painted part. It should be in contact with raw metal. The stator or magneto could be tested at a dealer. Good luck.
if you turn the key and the engine spins but doesnt fire try checking the timing for it to make spark at the time you need it to ,if it's out it wont catch and run or check for spark at the spark plug make sure it has spark use a dummy sparkplug in the boot and hold it on a ground and crank engine look for a blueish spark and if you have bare hands holding it you'll get a good jolt (insulated pliers)
