For the phone incoming calls are originating from where? Things to test to determine the scope of the issue. 1) Can another extension call your extension. 2) If you operate a local VOIP PBX (asterisk, 3CX, etc) if no go to 3. 2a) Are you using a service provider outside of your ISP for provisioning of the Trunk Lines. 2b) If the trunk lines are provided by other than your isp AND they are POTS/Analog lines. The issue is most likely with your trunk gateway 3) If you do not operate your own PBX (Phones connected directly to a SIP or you are using a sip provider for the PBX which is not your ISP and the problem is limited to calls received from outside your network. Because we are referring to calls coming from the outside it would often be an issue with a firewall or SBC (Session border controller) which limits access to your sip services without a defined method to authenticate the inbound connection. Often this is done by port knocking (IE: SIP inbound sends transmission to your network requesting a connection to a certain ext on a specific port at a particular timeframe. The response if rejected and the "real" request for connection is sent to the proper extension and port for connection of the call. (but if the first rejected request was not submitted (i.e.: the knock on a specific port for a specific connection to an extension, at a specific time interval) no one will open the door for the real call. Other types of firewall issues could be only accepting sip traffic from the trunk provider ip range. and likewise the trunk provider will only acknowledge traffic from your companies defines ip range. the trunk provider can also choose to block traffic originating from or transitioning through ip addresses of blocked countries. Lastly your phone needs to have the in bound and outbound details and domains set according to the trunk provider specifications, including supported technology and technology which is rejected. Activating a rejected technology may cause their response to not acknowledge your responses to ring the phone to start with. phone logs may give you some help to see what if failing.

Is your phone connecting to a hosted PBX provider or is it connecting to a premise-based IP PBX? Incoming and outgoing calls are usually handled by two separate connections between your PBX and the service provider SIP trunk. Sounds like a registration problem with the SIP trunk. There is nothing you can do from the phone itself to fix this.

SOURCE: can't connect to phone

Hi,

I bought SNOM 300 and i was unable to connect the router in first go. it was keep saying Send DHCP reqt but nothing was happening. i tried even connecting SNOM 300 dirctly to my laptop but in vain. in last i started receiving message Ethernet cable unplugged.

I reset the SNOM 300 to the factory defaults which solved the problem immediately.

Get to the phone menu "configuration-Reset" and select this option. it will ask for the admin password which is 0000. This will fix the issue. try it.

SOURCE: Cannot update firmware Snom 300

It's not really asking for a TFTP update, it's just something that is always checked for in the boot sequence.

As for manually setting the networking configuration rather than using DHCP, see page 14 of the manual at

http://www.snom.com/uploads/docu/UM_snom3xx_V2.2_en.pdf

for instructions on how to bypass DHCP and manually configure your settings.

SOURCE: my snom 300 phone displays

NR (Not Registered) status is shown on snom 300, when the phone's registration information is wrong. Login to the phone's GUI and double confirm the account details and password. The System Information page details the error. If it's a "Network Failure" error, you probably have to check whether the internet is up and the firewall is allowing VoIP traffic (both SIP and RTP)

I forgot the password and cannot access the web interface of snom 300, version of firm ware is 7.3.23, I have tried to reset it but it again asks for password. I have tried user name as 'admin' and...

Your phone has two passwords, administrative and http. If you lose http but still have administrative you can fix this through the web interface as your are trying. If both are lost then you will have to reset the phone to factory defaults by using TFTP to update the frimware. Note that this will result in you starting from scratch with your configuration.

Here is the SNOM wiki article containing directions for doing this:

Snom 300

this is not a solution - we have the same problem too.
have about 70 snoms here and sometimes the display shows only black boxes. a reboot helps then mostly for a while.
telephones are connected by poe or voltage adapter.
never had over voltage and i can't remember on power outages.
