Some laptops have a recovery section on the hard drive, you can go to my computer and see if it shows a small drive d. that could be your recovery section. You might also go to the manufactors web sight ynder support for your model and see if you can purchase the recovery disk, I bout a set for my HP for 15.00. if you decide to do the recovery, beshure to copy all important info to a back up source, because the recovery will wipe out all of your documents, music and photos.

SOURCE: I'm trying to restore my laptop back to factory settings It's windows 7 the cd disk don't recovery disc don't work

Have you tried while in Windows, to use the Start Menu, find Acer on the All Programs list, and locate the recovery utility? I have an Acer laptop - an Aspire - and had to do exactly that. I used the built-in recovery routine on the Acer Laptop and was able to rebuild my laptop to the condition of when it just came out of the box, brand new.It will delete all your installations since you got it, applications and documents and photos, etc., will be gone, but your laptop will function as if brand new. Good luck with it. -a.

Factory reset acer aspire 5315 gone wrong

I think you need to reload windows with a operating system disk. Most times the Factory Recovery discs don't work.

Get a windows operating system disk and just reload windows. The disk must match the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the bottom of her laptop. In other words, don't use a Windows XP Home operating system disk if the COA sticker says Windows XP Professional or you'll never be able to activate windows.

In order to reset the PC to factory settings you must do a system recovery, this is located in the system "Tools" (a sub menu of accessories) menu in "Programs" from the "Start" menu.

How do i reset acer aspire 5335 to factory setting?

Assuming the system partition has not been corrupted, do the following:

  1. Boot the machine
  2. While booting up, press and hold at the same time the ALT and F10 keys
This should take you to a system recovery screen with the option to reset to factory restore. Once completed, use System Tools to create a set of Recovery disks so you don't have to lose all of your files and programs should you need to recover again in the future.

I want to reset it

@lslchrisorei

Toshiba laptops have a built-in recovery mode on the system wherein you don't need to use a disc to restore it to factory default (if that's what you mean by "I want to reset it". The hotkey for the recovery is the 0 key (don't use the key on the numpad). To activate it, you need to turn the computer off, then you need to hold the 0 key then turn the computer back ON. If you hear a continuous beep, you can let go of the key and It will then say "Windows is loading files" and will proceed with System Recovery. If this doesn't work, that means that this computer doesn't have the hidden partition for you to restore the unit to factory defaults (either it's faulty or it's not there) and you need to order the recovery discs from Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 (for US) and for Canada, it's 1-800-663-0378.

If you're still under warranty, they'll give it to you for free.

Cheers

It either came with a recovery disk or has the recovery info on the hard drive. Boot up and hold F8 to see if there is a system recovery option or use the disk provided.

Yes they should be the same. You should be able to reset the laptop to factory defaults using the provided recovery disk just the the system on your HDD. The reason they have both is because the HDD is much faster than an CD. The HDD recovery system also keeps track of required OS updates and will keep those so you don't have to go through hours of system updates in most cases.

If you have a recovery disk you can use this to reset your laptop to the factory settings. BEWARE - this will delete all your data files. You should backup your files before using the recovery disk. If you do not have the recovery disk you can order one from the manufacturer.

I lost one of the recovery disc..how to get another one...

if u have OS installed on hard drive there is a separate partition on hard drive that hold OS files in a safe place in case u lose ur recovery disk u can get ur system reset to Factory Default without recovery disk

if u want to factory reset ur system without recovery disk u can do following but it is always safe to have recovery disk in store in case ur hard disk crashes and u are in trouble

Factory Reset W/o Recovery disk

Compaq/HP: When you first turn on the laptop and see the Compaq/HP logo screen, press the F11 key (you need to do this before the Compaq/HP logo disappears).

if u want to make recovery disk with ur running system u can do this

The recovery disc program prompts you at first startup, but if you ignored it, you can search for it in the start menu. Once it's running, it prompts you through step by step.

the program is called "recovery disc creation wizard" u can type rec in search and u can find it easily

for more detailed procedure read this it is for desktop but steps remains the same
