Question about Maytag Bravos 7.0 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer
I have an AF code on my Maytag Bravos dryer. However, the exhaust tubing is totally clear all the way out to the outside vent and there is excellent airflow coming out of the outside vent. Also the lint screen is clean. So what's the problem?
You can pull off the vent line from the back of dryer and run it,if it runs correctly you have a block in the vent line,i use a leaf blower to blow out the line.the dryer should be pulled aprt and cleaned out once a year,if the dryer still shows the code i changed the thermistor and this took care of the problem.you should run it in diagnostics to make sure to see what the problem is,there's a tech sheet on the machine could be in the top console or taped to the back of bottom panel depending on your model number, also if you use cling free sheets you can remove the thermistor and clean the back of it,i've found the white powder from the sheets stuck to the back,i cleaned it off with a tooth brush and it worked but i still changed it out.hope this helps and good luck.and unplug the dryer before you touch it.

I would do a Puddle test on the Lint Screen. A Puddle Test is pour a handful of water onto the Lint Screen. If it Puddles Wash it out with Dish Soap and rinse with Hot Water, See we use Fabric Softener Sheets the Oils from the Sheets clog the little tiny holes an it's hard for the air to flow thru it, This should be done every 6 Months just maybe it's giving it a False reading, also maybe check the Door Gasket

SOURCE: AF Error Code
If thats not it, then you nay have a faulty sensor.
AF Restricted Airflow Condition
"AF" flashes if a restricted airflow condition exists. Check to make sure the lint screen is clean, the door seal is in place and the vent is not

You will have to remove the back panel to access this part. Be sure that you unplug the machine before starting. Once the back panel has been taken off and placed aside the thermal switch will be located on the left lower side near the blower housing . It will be thin and long and located near the cycling thermostat that has for prongs on it. On certain machines, the thermal fuse is located in the front. To access this you must remove the kickplate, which can be done by pushing the clips, one on each side jsut above the top of the kickplate, in between the top and abottom portion. The part numbers are the same for either style dryer. To test this part you can either take the wires off it and tie them together then plug the machine back in and see if it heats, or you can use amultimeter and check to see if there is continuity, if there is its good, if not, bad. The thermal fuse will usually be white, and if located in the back, be thin and long with two wires on it, left and right. If in the bottom front, it will be front center on the exhaust duct
