Call the company who installed it.
If you are renting, there will be a contract that specifies cost for repairs and updates.

I have a paloma ptg2-42pvn tank less water heater. I recently installed the remote as the unit quit making hot water. I wanted to see if it was producing a code. The remote is flashing 76 repeatedly. I...

Bad remote control. Bad wire to remote control. Bad PC board.
Copy following link for resources, including older service manual and error codes and rheem chat for ordering replacement motherboard for your tankless computer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html

If tankless computer is 5 years old, then compare that to your 5-year old cell phone or 5-year old laptop, and ask if the chipware still functions or can be repaired to function back to factory fresh expectation.

Later today, install tank type water heater and solve all tankless computer problems with one ez step. Have hot water for shower same day with less maintenance and fewer long-term problems and expense.

Water heater not making hot water

1) Electric water heater can be repaired, no need for new one.
Copy following links:

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html#veryhot

2) Ordinary homeowner can turn 6-year electric tank into a lifetime tank.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-maintain-water-heater.html

3) If you replace heater, then buy inexpensive tank-type from local box store, and use coupon or offer 10% off. Read the product manual.
Avoid tankless at all costs unless you are rich.
No need to buy expensive water heater on the promise of thicker insulation or higher energy factor, or 'lifetime elements' or 'advanced technology', any other slicker promotion aimed at folks with the promise of a golden rainbow of money-saving-bliss if only you would spend more money. All costs are energy. Expensive water heaters do not pay back, and 1 repair will dissolve all anticipated savings. And expensive heaters can never be maintained to last as long as ordinary tank-type electric.

Hot water coming out of hot water heater. !!!

THATS` THINGY IS THE PREASURE RELEASE VALVE. THERE A ONE SHOT WOUNDER THAT MEANS ONCE THERE OPENED THEY NEVER CLOSE COMPLETELY.IT HAS TO BE REPLACED.IF THE TANK IS RENTED THEY DO IT FOR FREE .BUT IF YOU OWN IT YOU HAVE TOO DO IT .IMPORTANT!!!!!! THE RELEAVE VALVE IS VERY IMPORTANT, IF NOT REPLACED WITH THE RIGHT ONE THE TANK CAN BLOW UP.

My family is moving in...how do i increase hot water availability?

large water heater, turn p the themo stat to a higher setting ( watch for burns with young childern and older folks)

or the best install a tempering valve. this valve mixs hot water with cold water before it goes into the building.

Again if you have young ones or old people they can burn faster than any other group.the best is a larger heater for the DIY person.

Thanks Tom

Ruudglss Pacemaker electric water heater; still produces hot water, but the hot water last (in shower) for a much shorter time. The most likely cause is.?

Suspects include: Sediment in tank, shorting breaker, bad lower element, bad thermostat, water leak causing hot water to run out of tank:

Suspects that are excluded: Tank is not overheating, upper element is good, ECO reset button is not tripped, insulation and thermostat covers are present.

I have replaced both element on my giant 40 gallon hot water tank and only one will come on at a time should they both be on ???

Your tank is working correctly.
This is called non-simultaneous operation which is typical for residential water heaters.

I don't know which pipe on top of heater is the hot or cold

1) Look at the top of the old tank.
There will be markings on the tank, probably embossed in the steel cover that show cold - hot.

2) Many tanks have red and blue plastic pieces surrounding the inlet pipes

3) If there is a shut off valve located above tank, it should be on cold water line assuming house was plumbed to code.

4) When we install water heaters in old houses where water heater is removed, we look for shut off valve above tank that tells us which line is cold. If tank is missing and pipes have no shut off valve, we turn on outdoor water supply and see which of the two water heater pipes starts running water first ... because that is cold side.
