How to route fuel lines for a weed eater GHT-17 type1 carb. It has only one fuel inlet on carb, its a walbro w1221a.

The fuel line is gone, it is routed inside the handle some how. There is only one fuel inlet on the carb no outlet for return and no primer bulb. The carb is a walbro Type 1 W1221A or WT221, which is obsolete. The replacement is WT379 which has a primer bulb and two lines run to it but I don't want to buy a new carb if the old one is still good. Inside the handle there were remains of two sizes of fuel line one went to the carb and the other looked like it drained out through a hole in the bottom rear of the handle.

It would a WT-221. You got fairly right that one is a vent line and it does feed up into the handle and is vented out thru it; although, you may to add a check valve to it. I repaired a few of these and the ones I did all leaked out of the vent line until I added an Echo line vent to the vent line.
The problem I had was that the vent line not only allowed air into the tank, it allow fuel to escape thru the vent line when the tank pressurized.

Testimonial: "I could use a picture if you have one. How does the actual fuel line run to the carb? There are two holes in the handle one for the wires to the switch, which is about enough for the wires only and the one in the rear bottom of the handle. maybe the fuel line runs through with the wires and the other just drains out the handle's hole in the bottom. That seems like it could be dangerous to have fuel leak out like that."

Only the smaller of two lines will exit the handle where the wires exit. This will be the fuel supply line that has the filter attached. The vent line is just route up throungh the inside of the handle to near that exit hole.Just follow a path that doesn't interfere with the throttle control lever. I wish I could provide an actual pic but I don't of these trimmers in the shop. An tip here if you don't about it on getting the lines thru the tank holes. Cut a taper on the end of the lines and using tag wire inserted thru this taper and fed thru the one of the holes gently pull the fuel line thru.

Thanks for your input. I will take some pic's and try to load them. I saw a pic on repairclinic.com, it shows the fuel lines from the tank just going to the rear to nothing and only the handle no engine or carb. Kind of vague but I guess i'll try to get it together and also get into the carb as well since i'm there. The carb will probably have chunks of the line in there anyway. r

I just tried to load some pic's of what I was doing. It took a long time. I have the vent line run but didn't have the fuel line handy so I will get that Monday. I hope they loaded and help some one.

Show fuel line routing on weed eater by troy built.

Many Parts manuals don't show the actual fuel line routing.. The pipes have to go from the tank to the carb or primer bulb, generally a direct route without being trapped or rubbing. If you're referring to what pipes go to which part, then that's another question I could answer if asked. Thank you

change the fuel lines over on the carby
you are trying to feed fuel through the primer line when the engine is running and that is why it is cutting out

Changed filter and fuel lines, poulan 31cc 250E. starts fine but dies when accelarated

My chainsaw was doing this. The carburetors on these small engines have a fuel inlet screen that clogs with tiny bits of debris.Remove the carb, and take the portion off that has the fuel line attached to it(if you're careful, you can reassemble it without needing a new gasket). The screen is about 5/16" in diameter.Spray some carb cleaner in there to clean the screen out.(this is mt best guess, because it sounds like a fuel starvation problem)

Which fuel line "port/inlet" on the Walbro wt-380 goes to the fuel tank? It's on a Craftsman 25cc Gas "Weed Wacker" Line Trimmer purchased in 2002. It has Walbro WT-380 carburetor with external primer...

Usually the line with the filter on it that comes from the tank goes to carb. inlet first which is most likely close to the bottom side of the carb.nearest to the engine, then the outlet or return line on the carb.goes to the inlet side of the primer and the outlet side of the primer goes back to the tank. The primer draws fuel through the carb to the primer to the tank if its not? then correct the line connections until it does

How to replace Poulan fuel lines

it takes a lot of patients, you have to pull the gas tank, the line runs into ght gas tank with filter on it pull the hose off the carb first and feed it into the gas tank until you can reach the filter to get it off, than you can pull the hose out of the tank , get the same size line so it will fit in the hole of the gas tank. put it back together in reverse.

Which lines hook to what?

Fuel filter to bottom of carb. The suction port of primer to the top of carb outlet line to other port to tank.
To tell which port is outlet put your finger on one port and push bulb if the bulb collapses and doesn't return then that is the inlet (suction) side.
Good luck!

My weed eater will not start

Sounds like the carb or gasket around the carb is leaking allowing the pressure to blow by when you press the primer bulb. If its not air tight it will not pop back out. Check your carb and surrounding gaskets and check for a leak.
