Question about Indesit Washing Machines
My 1wd7145k (uk) has stopped working mid cycle, I have restarted and it fills with water ok but does not start to spin but continues to count down on the program timer. the motor does not spin and I have removed rear cover to check if bolt is ok and it is. I have checked and cleaned out pump filter ( three coins and a very small amount of soap gunge ) and then put on a 2 mins drain setting only. this worked fine and pumped out all the water and then 'END' was displayed and door unlocked. about 8 months ago the drum bearings gave up so I bought a new drum complete with new heater element etc direct from Indesit. A bit of a job to fit, but it was back to as new. Please could you give me some technical advise on what you think it could be? I have put it on a 90 deg and then on a 60 deg right don to 30deg wash and the washer fills up, does not start to spin and then all it does is to continue the cycle count down, and on feeling the glass i cannot sense any heat at all.so then thinking that the heating element had failed I have tested the connectors on heater element plate but am getting no light on my 240v test screwdriver. Looking for a bit of help now as I am quite frustrated. Also one last thing, can you actually just change the heater elememt on this model as the drum halves are plastic fused/welded and do not split and seem to recall a conversation with parts sale team at Indesit that you have to buy the whole drum/ heater as a complete unit. This question very long winded but just wanted to give you as much info as possible. Thank you very much and look forward to you reply. Regards Mr Steve York
May be the rubber belt is gone open the screws behind the washing machine and check if the belt is worn out or cut replace by buying the belt of the same code number printed on the belt

sorry this has not helped, as an engineer of 20 years some problems can be easily sorted, some take longer and can only be found with test equipment or hands on approach, if you have access to ready spares, start by replacing the module, although i do suspect its something thats been disturbed (wire on the timer), even we get it wrong sometimes?

i am a retired engineer of 20 years, and its about a year since i worked on combination washer/dryers but if the heater elements fine and power comes from timer there must be cut out somewhere around where it should warm up, look all round the machine one may be hidden or hard to spot there maybe about 3 one of them one of them could be a trigger device (you can press a button to reset it) that style is a very small cube about the size of a sugar lump with2 spades on it, others look like a small flat oval or round shape the size of a five pence piece with 2 spade wires on them, remove the plug from wall and remove these spades and check the contacts for continuity, you need not remove from machine to do so, no circuit + no heat, replacement item not expensive, thats where to start based on the information given, check the sensors you mention again, it sounds like your so close, good luck and work safe

SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series won't spin
If it is draining then the motor is turning the pump so it is ok.
This washer has no belt so that is not the problem.
Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch wires and put into a spin. Watch the clutch to see if it is turning. If the clutch housing is not turning and you know for sure the coupler is not broken then you need a new transmission. If the clutch housing is turning but the basket is not spinning you have something binding the basket or you need a new basket drive and clutch.
If you have only looked at the coupler from underneath you may not be able to tell if it is broken in the center. If it is broken again your transmission is not staying in neutral drain until the water is drained. That means it is going into spin with full load of clothes and water. This puts a lot of pressure on the coupler and causes them to fail prematurely. If this is the case you will need a new transmission.
Post back if you have any questions.

Get underneath the machine and remove the big black house coming directly out of the drum, this is held in place with either a screw tie or pinch type tie.
Put the machine back level and see if the coins drop out (they should) or have a feel around inside the drum.
Please make sure machine is unplugged and empty before carrying out this procedure.
Some water will come out of hose.

SOURCE: Hi, I have an Electrolux
Im taking it that you have a squirrel cage motor.(motor without bruhes) Locate the capacitor and replace it. Most of the time its the capacitor that has malfunctioned and that will stop the spin cycle. If you have a soft start.(an electronic control), then check the brushes. Possibly need someone to help as the motor will need to be removed to gain access to the brushes. Check length. must be at least 25 mm.(otherwise not enough tension). Make sure power is pulled out when doing this repair.
