Mary Kay,

The best thing to do is unplug it from the back, count to 30 seconds, and plug it in.

This is called a power cycle (aka a rebooting), and should hopefully fix the situation. You'll want to wait at least 15-20 seconds or so until the router fully starts up before attempting to connect to it again.

Please let me know if this helps and/or rate me. Take care and have a great night!

Hi Are you using Windows?
Did you manually create the connections to the printer or use supplied software?
Do you have admin access to the router?
If the router has been configured correctly, just switch it off wait 10 secs then switch it back on to reset it.

I have a mac, a printer and an ipad2 connected to my wireless network. lately i have been losing my internet connection a few times an hour all day long.. I have no idea what is wrong, when i unplug it and...

I had the same problem, and my issue was the printer. Every time i connected the printer using a wireless scan on the printer to connect to the router, it would kick my laptop out. Try disconnecting the printer and rebooting the router(Do this first, start it up and then do the next step with the printer off if you're still having problems). Do a factory reset on the router as well, but you have to set everything up again(i did that a couple of times). Hold reset button for ten seconds then let it reboot if you want to go that route. Once you reboot the router(try the simple boot first), leave the printer off and try and run your mac and ipad2 for a couple of hours and see if they stay connected and there are no interruptions. If they still do the same, then do a factory reset like noted above and try again. If they work ok, then the printer is conflicting with your other devices. The way i fixed mine was to connect my printer to the router using the manual method. You have to go to the dlink administrator login, go to setup, click wireless settings, then click add wireless device with WPS, click on manual, then go to your printer and go to wireless settings, click on manaul connection and it should give you a pin number. Now hit start scan on dlink page and then go on wireless printer and have them pair up. It's a lot, but it worked for me and hopefully it works for you. good luck

I think you may need to reset your router and let your printer to try to find your router again. But keep a note of all the settings on your router so you don't lose them. Any chances that your printer can be trying to connect to other wireless device other than your router and look like connected? Restart your printer and remove the settings on your printer and try the steps as you are setting up the wireless connection between your router and your printer for the first time.

Printer will not print or copy.......all ink cartridges are fine....just stopped printing

Sounds like it lost connection to the wireless router. I believe the manual calls for unplugging the unit for 2-3 minutes and then plugging it back in and powering up. The unit should reset and the blue wireless button should be back on. I would go to the task bar and pull up the printer and highlight any jobs still listed an cancel any print jobs still in the que and then try to print again.

This is one of the common connectivity issues marring the benefits of having a wireless printer. In this situation your printer will not print when connected wirelessly but would need you to set it up with your system using a USB cable. Try resetting the IP of your system to what is mentioned in the printer and in case there is a router connecting your printer and system then use the IP address of router and put it in your system. You should reset your router by sticking a pin in the pin hole on the back.
Once reset, reconnect a LAN cable and then reconfigure the wireless network.

If you keep having trouble connecting, try changing the channel your wireless network is being broadcast on.

Internet connection lost when wireless printer added to network

for reseting the password of ur dlink router u have to press the rest button on the dlink router (genrallyit on the bottom or on the back of the router it is like a hole u have to use a pen or pin to reset the router back to its factory default settings after that password of the router will automatically back to admin or password login to ur router change the settings to static ip in the router so that u can provide the static ip of the other router to ur this router (example if primary router HL 2170 ip address is 192.168.1.1 then u will provide this dlink router the ip address as 192.168.1.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 primary dns 192.168.1.1 now save the settings in the dlink router now the ethernet cable from ur other router will go directly in to the internetor wan port of this router. now connect wirelessly to any router both will work fine without any problem
