SOURCE: I have a small central pneumatic air compressor it

Most of the time the air flow rating for the air tools you are trying to use are rated higher than your unit, Check the lable on the tools and compare to your compressor, otherwise you have have some type of restriction in the air line or within the tool itself. Hope this helps.

Air compressor will not restart after it builds pressure and pressure drops to 80 psi

Make sure the power cord is plugged into an adequate extension cord if one must be used. Never less than 12 gauge wire.

The start/run capacitor may need to be replaced.. If there are any ball check type valves, make sure they are not worn or sticking. they would be on the output of the compressor head itself.

Try to use a higher amperage extension cord.
This unit is rated for 15 amps. It should be able to run on a 20 amp circuit unless there is voltage drop due to small wiring. Try an air conditioner extension and let us know the result.

I have a D55155 Dewalt air compressor. When I flick the switch to on the compressor sounds like it is starting very weak and then dies. A couple seconds later it repeats. Anyone know what this could be?

Yep! 2hp compressors need a strong power source. They'll draw alot of amps on initial startup. If they aren't getting sufficient power, they'll act just like this. It's causing the compressor's circuit breaker to cut out. Then when it cools off, it'll reset.
My suggestion is to avoid using extension cords if at all possible. The longer the cord, the harder it will be to start.
Try to plug directly into an outlet. If you need extension cords, use the shortest length possible. Also make sure the wire guage in your extension cords are no smaller than a 12guage wire(the higher the number, the smaller the wire guage).

Sears craftsman 3 gal/1.5 hp air compressor won't run

are you using an extension cord? if so, plug the compressor into a wall socket, if it fires up fine then your extension cord is too long or not heavy enough - other problems could be a bad start capacitor, a loose connection in the pressure switch, or a bad switch

Air compressor won't stay running even with resetting

How quickly does it shut off? Is it reaching the turn off psi? or is it immediate.
If it is immediate then it is probably a power supply issue.
Air compressors are power hogs. For instance, a compressor may work fine on an outlet using the supplied power cord, but plug it into an extension cord that is insufficient for it and a repeat of your problem will occur. If you use an extension cord make sure it is made just for this kind of application. Also, if possible, give the compressor a dedicated circuit.
Another problem might be your unloader valve not working correctly. This reliefs the pressure inside the pump after the motor has stopped. it would sound like the pump is working extra hard at start-up.

ALWAYS USE LARGE GAUGE CORDS FOR COMPRESSORS. LOOK FOR RESET BUTTONS OR THERMAL OVERLOAD BUTTON ON MOTOR. DID IT TRIP BREAKER OR GFI OUTLET?
