What is a thermostat plunger?

If anything is corroded, Thermister or Temp Sensor, just replace them.

MY 2012 Ford Ranger 3.2 4x4 diff lock is not disengaging, although the diff lock selection is off in the cabin. What can be wrong?

This was built after I retired, so I will give you a little background. There were electric actuators and vacuum actuators. Some used pressure to move the actuators both ways and others expected the actuator to retract on its own. Corrosion or dirt could bind the actuator plunger. On the electric type the connector plugs could corrode. The vacuum models could have a leak or simply be too weak to return a stuck plunger. Try checking the electric plug or vacuum test any vacuum fittings on the unit.

The key won't turn when I put it in.

You grabbed someone elses bike. If it has steering lock and the front fork is forcing it to move from lock, it puts too much stress on the plunger to turn the key. Try turnong toe handle bars all the way left or right when turning the key. Also you need to keep oil on the steering lock plunger so it doesn't corrode and jam.

2007 dodge magnum idles too high and shuts off

Check connection to the idle air control on your throttle body. The iac has a plunger that moves in & out causing idle change. If the throttle body is dirty it restricts the iac plunger travel. Tru seafoam in your gas to clean fuel injection system. Follow directions on cam! Run the complete tank to clean system. Note: you will need to change fuel filter when done.
Reset computer by disconnecting - battery terminal for 20 mins or more.

Bissell 1970 quicksteamer water runs out of clean water tank

Try re-installing the handle. Remove the screw on the back of the machine and pull up on the handle. Once the handle is removed pull the trigger to make sure the plugger on the end of the handle moves up and down when the trigger is pulled. If the plunger is moving reinstall handle and test. If the plunger is not moving you may need a new handle.

How to install a new fuel pump on a 1985 Chevy,305 V8,

Remove the plunger rod by removing the plate that is bolted to the block. Clean all parts if needed.

Apply some axle grease to the plunger rod and reinstall into the block, replace plate, then carefully install fuel pump, making sure the plunger is under the push rod.

Just did this same thing on my '66 283.

My '99 Pontiac Montana right sliding door and front door do not open. The windows and clock/sometimes CD player don't work nor does the A/C. Is there a fix? The fuses?

2 common possibilities. The plungers and plunger pads on the door and the door jam are corroded. Clean those off with a fine sandpaper, then put a dab of silicone grease on them. Then do the re-set procedure exactly as the steps indicate. If that does not help, then a possible door position sensor or the door control module is bad. A diagnostic using the on/off switch and the open/close switchon the system may indicate a code for door position problem. The door position sensor is part of the door motor/actuator assembly. The control module can be replaced separately. Info from here.

Replace the back cover with the arrow pointing directly at the stem. Everything should work correctly with the cover in that position.
