That's a lens error on the camera. For service, this is the place in the US that does the Canons: www.CamerasAndParts.com Service through them is excellent and not expensive at all. They'll be able to fix the lens error since you have a Canon. It's all they deal with are Canons.

What you are experiencing on your Canon is a Lens Error. This is common after a drop or exposing the camera to sand or dirt. Sometimes it could just have failed. You will need to have it serviced to fixed the problem properly. This is the site we recommend excessively for the Canons www.CamerasAndParts.com They do fantastic work at about half the price of what most shops charge. They are the only ones we recommend for the Canon Powershots.
