I have a HP DV2000 Laptop. The DVD Drive of Laptop is not working. When I tried to boot from External DVD Drive it wont work, while it shown in booting also checked in BIOS but still not worked.

You can only boot from External DVD if the BIOS has Boot from USB selected as the first option and you have a bootable CD/DVD for example a Recovery DVD.

I am assuming your hard drive is not working.

Dvd

DVD Drive errors are cause by the following::
1. The DVD Drive might not be connected properly to the motherboard.
2. The optical lens might need cleaning
3. The DVD driver might not be working properly or misconfigured
4. Might need to buy a replacement drive

Thanks. Cheers!

It wont detect a dvd on my acer aspire 5315 laptop

If your laptop won't detect DVD drive try and check connection first. Turn your laptop upside down and remove three maybe four screw (deepens on laptop) directly over a DVD drive and pull drive out. Blow some compressed air inside of laptop and check for anything abnormal on drive itself. Then put it back in and check if it works. If not it's either bad DVD drive or bad motherboard. Thanks and good luck.

Laptop DVD

Try cleaning the DVD drive with compressed air, if it still does not work try cleaning the drive with a DVD disk cleaner. if it still does not work and the software for the DVD drive has been confirmed as operational then the drive is dead and needs replacement.

Laptop DVD/RW Drive

Hi takino, Sounds like you have a faulty connection between your drive and the laptop or you drive has some serious problems. The first thing to try is reseating your DVD drive as follows: -Flip the laptop over with the front of the laptop facing you. -The DVD drive should be on you right. Towards the right center there is a single screw that secures the DVD drive to the laptop, remove it. -Insert a straightened paper clip into the release hole just underneath the DVD eject button on the DVD tray front. The DVD tray should eject. - Use the DVD tray to pull the DVD drive out of the laptop. It shouldn?t take too much force, but it might be snug. -Pull the drive out and look inside the bay. Clean any dust or foreign material in it or around the DVD connector in the bay or the drive itself. -Reinsert the drive and replace the screw. -Start the laptop and test. If that doesn?t work I would suspect your drive is probably damaged. If you are lucky and know someone with an identical unit you can swap drives and see if the problem follows the drive or stays with the laptop. If the problem stays with the laptop you probably have a motherboard problem, if it goes with the drive then you have a bad drive. Replacement drives can usually be purchased relatively inexpensively on Ebay or other parts supply houses. Motherboards, however, tend to be more expensive and are far more complex to replace. Let us know if you have another questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
