Question about Kitchen Ranges
We just moved into this house and all kitchenAid appliances were alreadyin the house
You understand, of course, that that is how the temperature of the smooth-sop elements are regulated - by turning on and off. When the setting is low, they WILL be off more than they are on. And as you turn them up higher, they will be on longer and off shorter. At High, they should be on 95% to 100% of the time. If not, then you've got a bad control (also called an infinite switch).

SOURCE: ceramic/glass top stove
Lift the ceramic top and look at the burnner to see if it is bad or not.
You only have to take 2 screws in the front of the ceramic top at the bottom, just open the oven door and look at the corners.
Don't forget to unplug the stove first

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:
If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.
If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.
First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.
Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.
