When in heat mode thermostat resets itself to 62.this usually happens when it gets really cold. what is the cause?

Battery connections may be dirty, clean with an emery board or small piece of sandpaper. New batteries.

What would make the indoor fan stay on when thermostat is satisfied by heatpump it does not do it when ran in auxillary heat mode it cycles off like it should


One of the safeties has the unit locked to keep the fan running. Probably a high temperature limit switch.

Usually a unit that has been runnung for longer then normal in the heating mode causes the heat exchanger to get really hot and causes the safety to trip.

The safety will lick out the heat mode and cause the fan to continually run. Other then that it could be the fan limit switch or a bad board.

Heat Pump Blowing Cold


Unless you just installed or had the thermostat installed recently, I would not point at the thermostat as the problem. With what you have described I would suggest have your units serviced as it sounds like a loss of charge, or failed defrost control board. The "Aux" comes on when the unit is using secondary heating (electric heat strips). That occurs when the demand temperature (what you set it to) in Heat mode is more than the current room temperature, usually ~2-4 degrees higher. Also happens in defrost mode. Defrost is a heat pump cycle that melts any build up of ice on the condenser unit (outside unit). That process is simply the unit running in cool mode which will heat up the outside unit to melt any ice. Defrost cycles vary with manufacture but usually you can tell if is in defrost by looking at the outside unit, during defrost the unit will be warm or hot sometimes there is steam and the compressor will be running but not the fan. Defrost only happens on heat pumps in "Heat" mode. Rheem has a 10 yr compressor and parts warranty, so call the installer or Rheem authorized service company.

My thermostat resets itself


BE absolutely sure the batteries are good. This is what usually causes this symptom, even it the 'battery indicator' isn't asking for a new battery. It happens a lot on systems that are being turned off with the breaker, safety or service switch; DON'T do that. When you put a set of brand new alkaline or lithium batteries, with the thermostat off the wall, leave NO batteries in it for about an hour. Be sure that the power is on 24/7 to the system. To stop the system from running, always use the "Heat--Off--Cool" switch.

My robertshaw thermostat works well in summer when using my Air conditioner. I have a heat pump. but in the winter the thermostat frequently displays "ER" during cold winter nights when the unit...


what it sounds like happening is the unit is realizing it is falling behind most thermostat s have a 3 degree deadband if they fall 3 degrees or more at a time after running for so long then it will bring on the emergency heat which is located in your inside unit... when it gets really colds and you see this you need to go outside and look is the outside unit still running and is it freezing up on you...also if running check the larger of two pipes make sure the large pipe is hot to touch...based on the description you have given the thermostat is calling for emergency heat but for some reason is not bringing it on or there is a problem with the emergency heat.... hope this helps out some

My mini cooper is blowing cold air inside when the car is hot and it start overheating

your mini-cooper may just need a new thermostat. if the thermostat in your car is the original, then 4 years is a goodly amount of time for any thermostat to last. Thermostats fail in 2 ways: (A) stuck open, which causes engine to warm really slowly, and (b) stuck closed, causing overheating and
causing the heater to blow cold air - since the heated coolant can't get past the closed thermostat to
circulate through the heater core (a small radiator-like device used to heat the interior of your car).
Your car's thermostat has failed in mode (B).
Your cost: $5-$15 at any auto parts store.
Project complexity: any handy person could teach themselves to replace a thermostat.

Heat pump heats with ac cool mode on dometic rv rooftop.


Sound like the change-over valve on the heatpump is not switching. Could be the valve is stuck, or bad. Or the thermostat is bad and will not send voltage, or is sending voltage to your change-over valve.

(Some systems energize the CO valve to cool, while others de-energize the valve).

Usually the color coding for the thermostat wires on a heatpump are orange and yellow. The yellow wire usually energizes the compressor contactor, and the orange wire energizes the changeover valve. Now depending on what your system does in terms of energizing or not energizing the CO valve to invoke heating or cooling mode is not known. You can try jumping across the thermostat to see if the CO valve is working. Or you can even try placing the stat in heating mode and see if you hear that loud "Woosh" when you switch between heating and cooling modes at the stat.

What often happens is the cylinder inside the CO valve gets stuck, especially if the system has sat off for an extended time. By workign the stat from heating to cooling (reversing the porting on the CO valve) will cause the valve to free itself up.

If you cannot hear that woosh as the changeover valve switches between heat and cooling, it is possible the CO valve is bad, or there is an issue in the electrical or control side of your system. Such as a bad base or switching circuit in your stat, or control issues other places.

Energy Knight heat pump refuses to blow!


Does this problem happen when the temperature is below 30 degrees? When it gets about that cold outside, the air outside is too cold for the heat pump to "steal" heat from. On the thermostat you'll find a switch labeled aux or emergency heat. Turning this switch on will operate a traditional coil heater inside the system, providing you with heat. The only downfall to this is that it uses more energy to heat this way. Try turning the fan switch from "auto" to "on". If the fan comes on, then we can rule that out. If the aux heat switch is NOT on, set the thermostat such that the system will try to heat. If the outside unit is running, the problem is either it being too cold like I said earlier, or there's a problem with the heat pump's mechanical system that needs to be serviced by a professional. If the outside unit doesn't run but it should be, check it's breakers at the panel, the breaker inside the electrical box that feeds it, and look to see if there's a reset button on the unit itself. Finally, check the air handler (part of the system inside with the fan in it) to see if there's any circuit breakers or fuses on this unit. Make sure they're not tripped/blown. If none of this helps, you definitely want to get a pro to work on your system.

I have a lux electric thermostat my furnace will blow out heat for about one hour to maybe three then it will start blowing cooler air,I then cut it off for thirty seconds or longer once I do that it will start blowing out heat again then it will repeat it self again what could be the problem.

Defrost Cycle Problems with Heat Pump


It's a defrost board issue. The timer on the board or something similar is hanging up. Unfortunately the solution is to replace the board. By lowering the temp. on the T-stat you are resetting the timer on the board. As you see that only works until the next cycle.

vulcan bonaire comfort control External natural gas electronic ignition 2004. ISSUE: Fan blowing only cool air continuously. Forced to kill power to stop it. model is one of the following. MB514E,20E or 30E. Going by mech drawing parts list. i can confirm what type of sensors i have cleaned with very fine sandpaper. flame sensor PN 5441603SP and IGNITER ELECTRODE PN 5441602SP The fault code i see is described as the following. There are x4 LED's. Sequence Left to Right. LEGEND: 1 Flame Sensor 2 Pressure switch 3 OverTemp 4 Diag. R Red G Green S Solid Colour B Blinking LED Behaviour. In order 2RS & 4GS Until i hear ignition. 2RS & 3RB Duration: split second 2RB,3RS & 4GB Duration: split second 3RS & 4GB Duration: Until it has completed blinking x4 times. 3RS Duration 4 seconds Repeat last two mentioned behaviour. in my own opinion, as a safety feature, the unit thinks that it has overheated or is about to. so kills the gas and force feeding cool air to heating components to save it from frying. Does this mean i have fault 04 if so does this mean i may have a faulty igniter or flame sensor or maybe a faulty as described in the mech drawing SWITCH OVER TEMPERATURE 120 degrees celsius. Am i correct here? Is this the over temperature cut out switch? if no one can really pinpoint which part requires replacement, can you at least, in sequence advise which parts to purchase? so then ill just try my luck. i wonder how to properly test if flame sensor, igniter, over temp etc is faulty with a multimeter. do i just perform a continuity test. I wonder what other parts can i test related to this fault im getting.
