Look on the back of the unit. You;ll need a small philips head screw driver. Often the drive is removble with one or two screws. Check YouTube for video.

Upgraded to windows 10. Getting error messages: boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk 3FO. Please help.

There have been lots of issues with W10 which is why I am not upgrading any of my computers. If they run fine with the original software there is absolutely no reason to change.

If I were you I would get rid of W10 and run the computer so it restores all software back to original factory settings but when you do this you will lose any saved files or software you have loaded such as security software.

Alternatively you can soldier on pulling your hair out trying to solve all the issues you will run into because of the W10 upgrade.

My hp pavilion dv7-4285dx has lost everything, os and all. How can I get it to read the recovery disc I ordered from HP?

What makes you think you've lost everything? Unless you specifically instructed your computer to Format the hard drive, I would doubt very seriously that you have lost everything. Everything might still be there, but a virus has hidden it to make you think you've lost everything. Oh, one more way to lose everything is to interrupt a System Recovery before it completes, or interrupt an Fresh Install of Windows before it completes.

A lot of times the System will think you've lost everything because somehow a setting the bios was changed either by you or some virus and it has set the hard drive where it is not detectable. Turn your computer off then watch the screen to see which key you have to hit to get into the BIOS or SETUP or System Setup.

Once you are in the BIOS scroll through it looking for AHCI that will be associated with disk drives or disk controllers. If it is Enabled, Disable it and Boot your machine. If it is Disabled, Enable it and Boot your machine. In other words just change the settings for AHCI.

Do that and report back.

My HP 4710s had a weird message that pops up after the logo screen. Then it says non disk or disk error strike any key to continue...I do that and the same message pops up...plz help.

the HP cannot boot up because it cannot find the hard disk to boot up from.
You could have a faulty hard drive or the hard drive needs re-seating.
If the HP still does not boot up after re-seating the hard drive go into the BIOS setting and see if the hard disk is detected. If not the most likely the hard disk is faulty.
To get the laptop working again. replace the hard disk, install Windows on the new hard disk plus the HP Laptop's device drivers and your programs.

Hp mini 110 1115sa hang on hp logo screen..

Well, I just want to comment something about it. I got the same problem and I am following the treads over the Internet and found a lot of complains to HP and few ideas; and for those whose guarantee is finished by this date, like mine, we got trouble and no real solution.
I reset hardware, and it didn't work at all. So, it seems it's just a little push for the HP Bios to work properly because the problem resists. I replaced the memory module and the same symptom. I didn't flash the Bios and didn't use the Recovery Software as those steps were mentioned not to work for this issue.
When the mini boot, I tested the Hard Drive with the utility from HP BIOS and it passed, also the Ram did. I tested them with third party software and passed, both mounted in this mini. Everything pointed out that replacing the Hard Drive would work. I installed a new 250 Gb Toshiba HD and at first boot a "clack" noise came from the HD maybe in the middle of the POST and it passed and the message that "select other boot device, bla bla.." appear. Good, but at the second try, the same problem came out: HP mini hangs on the HP logo screen. Please, any ideas will help this community. Do this new drive is bad too?
I feel some overheating, (I don't know what Atom temperature should be), by the dissipator and guess it would freezes the POST routine, or simply the BIOS is malfunctioning. I noticed that when the mini was turned off for a long time, it boots without problems even with the original hard disk and it loaded and worked fine in windows 7. Besides, I could start a Disk Clone process in order to get the same original installed software from HP. But this failed, too. Norton Ghost report "an internal inconsistency error". I guessed this was because of the bad sectors the original HD would have. After this step. I got acces to both disks using Partition Magic and other tools, even though, I partitioned the new HD. I just found a partiton table error in original disk and was fixed by Partition Magic. Everithing, as I said, looked great to remove the original HD an install the new one. But you already know.
Again, any help will be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I have hp mini 110 installed with window7. during start BOOTMGR MISSING message comes followed with ctrl+alt+del to restart, pl help me

Good day.
This error message is a result of a couple of possible problems, corrupted operating system (need to reinstall or repair operating system), unbootable media (trying to boot from an unbootable hard disk or cd drive or USB device), defective hard disk or improperly installed hard disk (check cables).
Good Day.
