Hi! it does mean you have to take the laptop to a parts but dont worry it´s not rocket science you can find good instructions from youtube and save lots of money by replacing it by yourself.

Hi Samoni, a repair center should be able to replace the panel for you, it is not cheap but still worth it.

Another option is to use an external screen on the VGA port, obviously not as portable as before but you could use a bigger screen and keep using the laptop if mobility is not a top priority.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Can I replace the cracked screen on my HP laptop

Yes it can be replaced it usually involves replacing the entire lid and is pretty in depth you may want to look for an HP repair shop that could do it in just a few hours unless you are very comfortable in taking apart laptops.

SOURCE: Different between HP laptops?

Hello sunny03

HERE is HP's listing for the DV685NR laptop PC.

If you'd like to give me the model number of the 1st computer you mentioned, I'll find HP's listing for that one, too, if you like. That way, you can compare them sided-by-side using "tabs" in your Internet browser or by "tiling" two browser windows side by side (vertically) allowing you too view each listing simultaneously. (If you don't know how to do this, just let me know, I'll be happy to explain.)

If you have ANY more questions at all on this topic, just post back here and we'll be happy to help.

I couldn't compare the two computers as I don't have the 1st one's model no. However, if I did answer your question for you by providing the listing for the 2nd computer AND you don't have any more questions....

...would you kindly take just a moment to close the problem by assigning a FIXYA rating for my "solution"?

I would be very grateful for your generosity and show of appreciation.

Thank you once again for using FixYa! Have a beautiful day.

SOURCE: hi!! i have a hp

To improve performance, increase the RAM from 512Mb to 1Gb or 2Gb.
The graphics card is part of the motherboard and therefore cannot be upgraded, BUT the graphics card used shared RAM (part of the main RAM) and you most likely can increase the video RAM by configuring the video RAM from the BIOS configuration.

Laptop is on, but nothing on screen

If possible, try connecting an external monitor to see if that works. if it does then you will need to check your screen connection to motherboard. also check the inverter and backlight, either of these can be replaced relatively cheaply. If it doesn't then there is likely a problem with the graphics card/on board graphics.

My laptop screen wont turn on at all. Everythinh else sounds like its running normally except this.

I hate to tell you this but it sounds like you are having the typical HP cracked solder joints on the graphics processor issue. You will either have to find someone to re-flow or replace the motherboard. If you laptop is still under warranty you should call HP.

How 2 solve the poor video quality in intel hd graphics of acer aspire 4745? i recently bought acer aspire 4745 (core i5 430m processor, 3gb ddr3 ram)...i dont ve any integrated gpu in it...it shows the...

1. check your display settings for the best possible screen resolution for your laptop.
2. the new CPU that is installed is defaulted at 1080p resolution and is to strong for the video graphics card that is on the mother board which is possibly 1280X740 . Being a laptop and the video graphics is built into the mother board therefore possibly not compatible with the new processor.
3.
Blue ray video is ultra high resolution such as 1920X1080 HDTV

Which is better laptop deal?

Hi !!

Ofcourse 2.4 ghz is better than 2.1 ghz but its not a very big difference if price difference is more than 100$ than go for first one else second one is good and the most important thing i want to mention is that it all depends upon your needs you havent mention for what purpose you are going to purchase. But both are enough for gaming, daily use and for techie as well.

Hope that helps
Thanks

Unless your laptop has a access door on the bottom for a graphics card, look like the answer is no.
