Hi Graham, it scans to see if it can find any TV channels on the RF input. For that, an antenna or aerial need to be connected. If it cannot find any signals, it will scan for a while but it should end at some point.

If you want to use another input, like from a DVD player or set top box, use the "Input Select" to switch to another input.

Hope this helps.

Why can't I scan my tv

Nobody knows. Why do you want to use your television as a scanner to scan documents or put your television 'in' a scanner. Perhaps you want to scan it for viruses, but televisions don't get them because no one has written them yet. Perhaps you want to use your television as a radio scanner so you can listen to police broadcasts, but that is impossible.

So you can see from the nonsensical answer, we have no idea what you actually want. To get good answers, you have to write good detailed questions.

I can't get digital so when I scan for channels I get nothing

Firstly make sure that you have a digital television. If not then you need to connect a Set Top Box. If you do have a digital tv then check the scan settings as you have options on what to scan for. Usually just leave the setting on AUTO, scan and receive everything and then delete the ones you don't want. Cheers.

My channel list is empty. How do I manually add channels. NOT ACTUALLY SCAN.

First you have to connect your source of channels to the television via a receiver, whether satellite or cable, or 'free to air'. Then you instruct your television to scan for all of the channels. Then after that, you can either choose (say) channel 1432 on the remote, or scan upwards from channel 1000, or set it as a favourite.

It sounds to me that you have nothing connected to the television, or the supplier of the signal (the receiver) is switched off :>)

Hi i have the sv2000 with the built in dvd player. can you please help me i have no remote for it and i need it on channel 3. do you know how?

Take a look and see if this is the remote you need. If there isn't a channel button on the television itself that is working or a channel scan feature that you can access with the buttons on the television itself you will need the original remote. If you are able to get a channel scan going, make sure you have whatever you're connecting to the television all set up and running so that the scan will pick it up.

Setting up antenna to television

For setting it your set you will have to connect the antenna to the back of set.
Go into the setup menu to select the input signal source.
Set the signal input to the antenna air.
Go to the scan section of the setup menu.
Scan in the channels. You can move the antenna and re-scan to try to get more channels.
Exit menu.
Now you can watch.

No tv signal

Hello we just spoke on the phone and I did forget one troubleshooting tip. It is called a double scan. You disconnect the antenna completely from the television and complete a scan. When the scan has completed you connect the antenna back to the television and complete another channel scan.

The first scan without the antenna will sometimes wipe the tuner and enable it to receive a signal. That would be the only other possible solution I would have to this problem.

    Television display

    Hi,
In basic terms TV images are made up of hundreds of horizontal lines, with interlaced scan it will display in order line 1, 3, 5, 7 and so on and once it reaches the end it will fill in the missing lines 2, 4, 6 and so on until it starts again.
For progressive scan it will display the lines in order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc.

    cheers
