SOURCE: SCreen goes blank intermittendtly

It is OK that there is enough space where your PS3 is located but what is required is ventilation to take out the heat which may be the case in this case. Therefore try to put PS3 in a place where the place gets enough ventilation. There is no other reason for screen going blank intermittently Also, it is suggested that you clean the terminals of the cables periodically by disconnecting them as the heat attracts dust and the contacts become dirty with dust thus affecting the connections

Adjust the powersave so the screen does not time out. The option is in your menu.

System initializing... please wait..... thats what my tv says but I've been waiting for hours whats wrong with it

It means it can't finish the initialising cycle. Could mean there is something wrong in the TV, or just a glitch. Switch it of for a few minutes and then start again. If it keeps coming back with the same message, I'm afraid you have to ask a technician to look at it. But before you order one, ask what a diagnose will cost and if it is possible to repair. also check what a new flatscreen will cost. There are cheap ones around, so it could be buying a new one is cheaper than repairing the old one.

My Sony KP-46WT500 screen shows the tv image in blue only for a few seconds, then it goes completely blank (as if it were off). Do I need to replace the bulbs?

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.
Thanks.

FYI...the best suggestion I've seen is to hold the channel up and play buttons simutaneously....thereby causing the machine to return to the "factory initialized" state. So far so good for me. We'll see. photog1
