Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. I have Dish network. I want to record TV onto the VCR, but cannot get channels to record. i can playback videotapes and the record works, but cannot figure out how to get the signal to record.

The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR.
The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV.
The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.

It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input.
& VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.

Are there problems recording to a vcr when using a digital converter box?

Not at all, as long as the channel selector on the back of the VCR is set to channel 3 to receive the signal and record. Connect the digital convertor box to the VCR. Connect a second co-ax cable to the TV to complete the signal loop. Tune your TV on the channel you want to watch/record. Put the VCR on channel three on the display screen. Try recording and play it back. This will ensure all your connections are correct. Hope this helps, if not let me know.

VCR will not record with new digital cable box

The short and simple solution is to tune the VCR to the channel that the cable box is set to (4), and then tune teh TV to the VCR's output channel (3). If you do this you should be able to see the Cable channel through the VCR tuner and then record. Any other solution would require figuring out how to set both the VCR and the cable box to the same channel, but it sounds as if you have ruled out any possibility of being able to do that.

New TV won't ''talk to'' old VCR

using the magnovox remote, reprogram the vcr's channels. set it up to use cable not air. when the vcr was unlugged it lost it's channel memory. don't buy new cables, you're getting a picture and sound so that means your rca cables are ok.

Trying to help this older lady with a emerson tv/vcr combo. She has no manual with set. Setting up to record same station everyday at same time. VCR will record but when playing back she only gets sound no...

The TV should be on channel 2, 3, or 4 to work correctly. There might be a small switch on the back of the VCR that lets you select the channel that it wil play back on.

Also, look on the remote control for the VCR and see if there is a button labeled TV/Video, and press that while something is playing. This switches back and forth between the TV signal and the VCR signal and it could solve your problem.

Are you using the cable connectors to go into the VCR, and then from the VCR to the TV?

If so, turn the VCR on. Put the TV on channel 3 or 4 (depending on which one you have it set to. If you are unsure, try both channels one at a time) Press the VCR/DVD button so the display on the VCR says VCR (not DVD). Now, you should be able to change the channel with your VCR remote control. If not, you have a problem with your cables. Make sure your cable from the wall goes to RF IN on your VCR. The RF Out on the VCR should go to your TV ANT In or TV RF In.

If you have successfully gotten your TV to display the TV station shown on the front of your VCR, then all you have to do is put in a tape, select the channel you want to record and press the record button.

If you want to watch another channel while you're recording, press the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote, then use your TV remote to change channels.

When you want to stop recording, press the stop button, put the TV back onto channel 3 or 4 (depending on what you have it set to) and press the TV/VCR button on your VCR again. From here you can rewind and view your recording.

RCA VR355 recording problem

Are you sure the reciever is coming through the vcr.? are you hooking it up through a/v on vcr?
if so hook from a/v out from directv to a/v in
jacks on back of vcr. and turn vcr on a/v channel
to record it. you will see the picture as you record it. if the vcr isn't on a/v channel it won't record it
If you use ch 4 or 3 to record it you
hook up directv to cable in on vcr and you
have to turn vcr on that channel and see it coming
through it you have to push a button on satlette
remote to make it come on the vcr on the channel
or it will record snow. and you have to push
another button on vcr remote if you haven't
already to get the vcr on ch 4 or 3 on your tv
or if u got it through a/v turn tv to a/v channnel.

just beacuse you see the picture coming through
your tv doesn't mean it going through your vcr
you could be just seeing it through the tv only.
you will see the vcrs graphics or vcr channel number on your
tv too along with the directv channel if it's hooked
up right. notice the vcr won't record it's own
graphics or channel number on the screen but it will record the directv's graphics. and it won't record the tv's own grapic channel number either.
to make sure it's right you will see 3 graphics on
your tv the own tv's channel number or a/v
the directvs and the vcr's channel number or a/v
on your tv if you see these you know it's hook up
right.
