Question about Garden

1 Answer

My Yardworks riding lawn mower won't start. There is fuel getting into the cylinder and the spark plug is new. What do I check now? It cranks well, just won't start.

This unit was working fine when it was shut off about three weeks prior, but it won't even kick now, just cranks. Someone suggested a "toggle switch", but I don't know what they are talking about.

Sounds like the needle valve in the carbuetor is stuck and allowing gas in your oil.. You need to fix that and change oil before you start it up.

take the spark plug out and crank the engine over for 30 seconds to blow out any gas that may be in there. get another or a new spark plug and put it in and try to start it. maybe check compression to see if the valves are working properly. if you have spark and fuel and compression it should.

190cc 675 sears push LM. Irene put it under water. Drained carb and crank. removed and cleaned filter. New gas. Won't start. Got a little pop with starter spray. No pop at all?

Did you drain fuel tank before refilling with fresh fuel? Drained carburator bowl good, drained crankcase and refilled with fresh oil good, removed air cleaner and dried out good. One question for you , did you remove spark plug and drain any water that may have gotten into your cylinder through an open valve? There could be water sloshing around in the cylinder, gas and water will not fire, and water on spark plug wont allow plug to spark. If you need any more help please get back to me , I believe this is the first under water problem I've encountered. GOOD LUCK.

Bought this lawn mower. It was sitting for two years and now it won't start.

first things first:
1) make sure that the kill for the magneto/coil is breaking contact( it is on the side of the mower, follow the cable down from the red bar)
2) gas to carburetor
3) spark to plug/s
4) gas to cylinder/s

pull plug and try starting mower, observe spark plug for spark and fuel coming out of cylinder/s. if spark no gas, then check to see if it getting to the carburetor, if it is then it is the float and seat in the carburetor and will need to be cleaned/replaced/rebuilt. Or just simple pour gas into the carburetor and try starting if it starts then it is the fuel line, carburetor. Hope this helped Tim

Lawn tractor will not crank, new battery installed. only get a sqealing noise.

try turning the fly wheel by hand can you turn it . if not remove the spark plug then try again . if fuel comes out of the spark plug hole in the head the carb is leaking fuel in to the cylinder . if on fuel comes out remove the rocker cover and check the valve clearance .005 intake .003 exhaust . some time the valve stud comes lose and the rocker comes off the valve. also check the intake push rod to see if its bent .

Riding Mower will not start

You need to check a few things. The spark first, you need to check if it is running correctly, does it have spark, by doing this: take out the spark, put it against a metal surface and pull the pull start if it spark, your good if not you need a new spark plug. Clean out your airfiilter it migth help too. Buy some carb and choke cleaner squirt it up theough the airfilter hole, and start the engine, this will clen the carb. yOU MIGHT NEED TO TAKE OUT THE CARB AND CLENA I OUT THROUGHOULY!!! Try that and it whould work after all these steps!
