Question about Frigidaire Microwave Ovens
My Frigidaire Electrolux microwave oven Model # FMV145BC1 will still run but lights up at the top and makes a terrible noise. We stop it everytime it does this. For a while it would only do it ocassionaly and we could still run the microwave. Now it does it within seconds every time we turn it on. So we stop it immediately.
I advise do not use this machine as you could have a fire sooner or later. Get a new one if this will cost too much to repair.

Most likely the power capacitor is shorted. If you know someone that is just alittle familiar with electronics, they will know what to look for.The part will look like a somewhat long large silver 9v battery with two metal leads.Normally toward the back of the microwave and below the cooling fan. With a volt-ohm meter this capacitor can be checked.on the meter if you get a reading ,its bad, if you get no reading(open), its most likely good.Ninety percent of the time it will be bad.If it is, just replace with the same value and your ready to go.

hello Frank. Sorry to tell you that the magnetron is going bad and making that terrible noise. Since the inside of a microwave, even unplugged has up to 2000 residual and deadly volts of electricity I recommend either calling a pro or replacing the unit.

Spacemaker t/t motors are very easy to change. Removed the screws from bottom of microwave. the bottom panel will found towards wall. Mtr is in very center of unit. Should have 2 wires going to it

often this is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the
cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.
The waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually on the right side of the cavity and is about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.
In some models it is a larger stirrer cover type made of thicker plastic in the ceiling of the oven.
It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!
The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.
If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.
It provides critical protection for the magnetron.
Your owner's manual may show you how to remove the cover.
