Hi Gregorio, you will need to state what operating system you are using to answer more clearly.

If you are using WinXP, Vista or Win7, right click om 'My Computer" then "Manage" then "Disk Manager". Select the disk and right click on the open space, "Create Partition" and Format. Hope that helps.

When you start with the installation, and you select where to install the OS, do you see any "Create Partition" or "Format Partition" options?

Sorry it seems to be bad news if I search for this error code: Error code 0x8007045d often indicates a problem with the hard drive - - specifically a failing hard drive.

Unless you are trying to install the 64bit version of Windows 7, it is not compatible with a uefi boot option - this has to be switched in the bios - F2 to access your bios, then look under boot options (I don't have the specific menu for that laptop) what you want is to enable legacy boot options.

Here is some information - select legacy boot options

How to partition the HD into two portion with OS windows 8?

Hold the Windows logo key on your keyboard and press "R" (Winkey+R). This will launch the Run the utility. Type "diskmgmt.msc" inside the text box and press Enter. This will open the Windows Disk Management utility. This is where you can format, create, and delete hard drive partitions.
order to create a partition, you need unallocated space. Unallocated space is basically disk space that is not formatted or not prepared for storage. Formatting is the act of preparing a disk space for storage. It similar to building a foundation for a place to be inhabited. Thus, unallocated space is just useless blank space with no "foundation" or format.
To create unallocated space, you need to shrink your hard drive. When you shrink your hard disk, the remaining space becomes unallocated.
To do this, right-click your main drive and select "Shrink Volume."
You will then see the region of unallocated space (shaded black). Remember, this space is not yet usable.
Now you need to create "foundation" or format for the unallocated space. This will allow for the space to become usable.
Right-click the region of unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume."
This will launch the New Simple Volume Wizard. This will guide you through the installation process.
ssign the disk a drive letter. You can choose any drive letter that is not currently in use.
Select a file system for the disk. The file system is basically the type of format or "foundation" the storage device has. If you plan on installing a Windows OS to the partition select the"NTFS" file system.
Name the partition in the "Volume Label" text box. You can choose any name for your partition.
Now click "Finish" to create the new partition.

I don't have recovery partition

follow this step and do it. God bless you

  • To create a partition from a new or newly formatted computer, make sure Windows is installed. Load any programs and drivers you would like to keep in case you need to back up to a previous version of your computer's settings.

  • 2

Install your partition creation software; in this article we will use Norton Ghost. Before creating your partition, disable any anti virus and other scanning software.

  • 3

Create your partition by going to your ms-dos prompt: from your Start menu, press "Run," and type "cmd" without quotations in the run dialog box. At the dos prompt, type "fdisk" without quotations, and choose option 1 (Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive). Set the partition size to 10 GB at press enter.

  • 4

Open Norton Ghost and follow the instructions to create a recovery partition in the new partition you had just created. The process should take anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the size of the files you are going to back up.

  • 5

Restart your computer. When done, open Norton Ghost to verify that the Recovery Partition was created.

I have a freeagent go 500gb portable hard drive. Is it possible to divide it into two 250gb partitions?how?

yes it is possible. First you can use a partition software. The second is using the disk management tools, these are the steps.

1.To run Disk Management Tool, click on Start, right-click My Computer, and select Manage from the menu that appears. When you see the Computer Management window, click the Disk Management item listed underneath the Storage heading. You then see the main Disk Management pane in the right side of the Computer Management window.

2.Creating the partition: Unallocated space appears as an Unknown Partition in the Disk Management diagram, you can use it to create a new partition in some or all of the space. To create your new partition, you need to right-click on the part of the diagram that represents the unallocated space, the unallocated space has a black stripe running along the top and then choose the "New Partition" on the menu that appears. To create your new logical drive in an extended partition that has free space The free space has a light green strip along the top, right-click on the free space then choose New Logical Drive from the menu that appears. Now you will see the New Partition Wizard.

The Partition Wizard will asks you to specify the following:

1 The Type - Primary, extended, or logical partition. Your hard drive can contain up to four primary partitions, or three primary partitions and one extended partition. Choose the primary partition if you are created a partition in which you will install an operating system (this is unusual situation). Choose extended if you plan to create several logical partitions within it. The logical partition type is available only if you choose to create the new partition in an extended partition with some free space.

2 The Size - You may use the entire available space, or leave room for more partitions. The Partition Wizard will displays the minimum and maximum size for the partition, this is based on the space where it will be stored

3 The Drive letter or path - Two operating system on your computer. You may select any unused letter, but the wizard will offer the next available drive letter. To Mount in the following empty NTFS Folder, you need an NTFS partition with a drive letter on the same machine. You may select the "Do Not Assign A Drive Letter Or Drive Path" option, this will let Windows assign a letter later, usually the default drive letter.

4 The File system - The default is NTFS (recommended), but you can use FAT32 (not recommended) as well. Both NTFS and FAT32 will efficiently utilize disk space on large drives.
Note: NTFS has better security features, the better recovery capabilities after a major crash, and has file-level compression built in. NTFS will also give you the option of enable compression.

5 The Label - Type a name for the partition, name it something that will indicating what you will use it for, data files, my files, fatboy one, etc.

I hope this solution was helpful.

Can any body help in suggesting how do i detect 500Gb SATA Hard Disk on a Windows 2000 Platform, when i connect it shows only 131GB Capacity HDD please advise and give me solutions

If this is a newer computer, your disk may not be partitioned properly / fully. You can check this by going to the system's storage management appliction like this:

    1. Start the MMC (Start - Run - MMC)
    2. Select "Add/Remove Snap-in" from the Console menu
    3. Click Add
    4. Select Disk Management and click Add
    5. Select Local Computer and click Finish
    6. Click Close
    7. Click OK to the main dialog
    8. Locate the disk in question
    9. Make sure the partition(s) span the entire disk
If the entire disk isn't being used by a single partition, you have two choises:

    1. Add a new partition for the unused disk space
2a. Backup al data on the disk, and delete the partition
2b. create a new partition to span the entire disk, and then right-click and format it.

If the entire disk isn't being reported, you may need to update the motherboard bios.

Cant install xp on 2 partition

What error message(s) do you get in denial during the installation process. What type of file system are both partitions. There must be a conflict in the file system or one of the partitions is not basic. The complain on the other hand appear incomplete for clear assistance. Please try and add some flesh to the complain so that I can help.

    Seagate drive partition

This is fairly straightforward using the Windows XP tools.

IMPORTANT, copy everything you want to keep from partition F otherwise it will be deleted. Drive G will not be affected.
    • Right click 'My Computer' >'Manage' then click disk Management.
    • Right click your drive F and 'Delete Partition'.
    • You now have 210GB unused space on the drive.
    • Right click the unused space and "Create Partition".
    • Specify the size of the new partition to your requirements or create more partitions until the free space runs out.
    • You can then right click and format the new partitions. 'Quick Format' is fine unless you have been experiencing disk problems.
To swap around drive letters in Disk Management:-
    • Right click the drives and 'change drive letters', to X, Y or Z or whatever
    • Now you can change the drive letters back to F, G, H or whatever order you want them in
I'm sure you get the idea, you just have to change the letters of the drives to unused letters to make a space in the sequence (not that any sequence really matters)

    Good luck
