Fan not running

If by fan you mean motor then it could be a simple fix. First, has the filter been changed or cleaned recently. And second, is there a clog of debris in the house or passage way leading to the bag or canister? Many vacuums are now equipped with a thermal switch that interrupts power to the motor. This helps prevent heat damage to the motor as well as reduce the potential for a fire. Often, after checking for clogs and doing simple routine maintenance/ cleaning, it is simply a matter of allowing the vac to cool. If after 10 or 15 minutes, the vac still does not work, then start at the power cord plug and work your way to the motor. Be sure the vacuum is not plugged in when inspecting the power cord. Look for damage to the cable. A cut or deep abrasion may be enough to short the circuit. If this has happened, likely a breaker associated with the outlet you plugged the vac into has tripped. If you know the outlets good, and the power cord looks to be in working condition, the next potential culprit is the power switch. These can very greatly , depending on the make and model. Typically, you can feel that the switch is loose or that it is hard to switch on and off. These qualies could indicate a broken switch. If the switch seems good, perhaps the motor has failed. Most later model vac motors are not easily serviceable, and are otherwise very cheap to replace. The average household vacuum retail for about $60. So if you have been using the same vac for a coupl of years, you have likely gotten your moneysworth. Good luck!

Using my unit (owned about 6 years - great service so far) it suddenly quit ... no wind down or 'prelude' like whine - growl - etc. -- it just quit running ... suggestions? clear filters?...

I agree with you having great service because mine only lasted two years. It sounds like the motor just worn out. If you don't smell any burnt electrical then replace the bushing for the motor. Good Luck

Dyson dc07 suddenly lost all power. Bad power

This could be the switch, but could also be the motor.
The motor has a built in over-current protection device which normally automatically resets itself, but if the motor has had it, it then just cuts out again as soon as you switch it on.
Both the switch and motor are available quite cheaply on eBay, but fitting new ones requires good DIY skills (especially the motor), and some unusual tools (Torx drivers).
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some great info on repairing your machine, but if you dont feel you can repair it yourself, time to call a vacuum repairer or the Dyson helpline.

Central vacuum with new motor shuts off and throws switch

Your mini breaker is probably bad if its a new motor. Its found on the relay board and they can weaken over time, especially if you had a bad motor before that tripped it a lot.

If the motor on the power brush is running the belt is bad, if the motor on the power brush only runs when you push the overload, the overload is bad.

Central Vaccum - Kenmore Model No 34330

Is there suction where the pipe hooks to the cannister? If so, then are all of the outlets without suction? Maybe the hose is plugged. If the hose is ok, and there is suction at the cannister, then **** up a small **** of paper, one for each room outlet, have a number on each piece of paper, Which ever one doesn't ,ake it thru to the cannasiter is the outlet that is plugged. You can use a plumbers snake to clean out a clogged outlet or even a clogged hose.

If the motors are running and sound ok, then there has to be suction at the outlet on the cannister. If the filter bag is old, it may be best to replace it with a new one.

Power head

If you have checked the power delivery down to the powerhead and you have current running to the powerhead, then you likely have a burned fuse. There is a fuse built into the powerhead motor and is usually located on the field winding. This is not easy for a novice to replace and even most professional repair shops will replace the motor. It is possible to replace the fuse if you know what you're doing, but if the fuse blew, there may be a more serious problem, after all, the fuse is there if the motor starts to experience distress and the fuse will blow to avoid any electrical issues. The fuse can blow if something is jammed into the roller and causes the motor to labor heavily. If this is the case, then the fuse can be replaced safely. If the motor is burning out, then a new fuse will just blow immediately after replacement. What I do is take the fuse out and run the motor without it to see if the motor is still viable and replace the fuse if the motor proves to be o.k.

Kenmore 33721 does not start

Same thing happened to me. After taking the cover off I noticed a wiring diagram on the inside cover. There is a fuse between the on/off button and the motor, sure enough the fuse had blown. There is no mention of a fuse in the manual! The vacuum works great again.
