Worcester DT 20 RF Room Stat, when batteries were replaced in correct positions the unit still did not show any signs of life

It is recommended that you use all new batteries when replacing them in the Worcester DT 20 RF Room thermostat. Rest the power on the heater with the thermostat near by, this will reestablish wireless communications between the two. You will need to reprogram the heaters timer as well.

Gas Oven - no flame at Bake Baffle - Glow Bar glows fine

If the glow bar is working (glowing) it is the gas valve. BUT, the glow bar can also actually glow and still not be working 100% and letting enough current through to the valve. You could swap an identical valve out to check it, if you don't have a meter. It's more than likely the valve though.

How do i wire a potterton programable controller

Hi,

All you need to do is look at the wiring diagram on the back of the old room stat, you will have the following:

(normally wired with these colours)

OLD COLOUR CODING

Live (sometimes called common) - Red
Neutral - Blue
Switch Live - Yellow

NEW COLOUR CODING

Live - Brown
Neutral - Grey
Switch Live - Black

All you need to do is wire up the new stat with this in mind. (please note: if the wires are not colour coded like this then do not proceed and get an electrician)

Any problems or questions let me know

I hope this helps

Unbalanced cooling or heating

You need to balance the system. It's a matter of adjusting the dampers or registers so that you have a little less air flow near the T-stat and more to the other end of the house. Likely you have a return vent near the T-stat. That return draws air to it and likewise the T-stat. If you are getting a lot of air out of the registers on that end of the house damper them to force more air to the other end of the house. Do not close them entirely though. You may have to play with it a little to get it right. I hope this helps. Please remember to rate Fixya rate me.

Want to replace our old furnace with heat/air(split unit)we think.

well i don't know you live but i live in iowa and the here you still will need a furnace because your air to air heat pump is only good to about 20 deg. that is where i have mine set any colder out side and i cant pick up enough heat from the outside to heat my house. but what i did was just put the heat pump on my old furnace so it will run on the heatpump till the temp get to cold then goes to the gas furnace this way you should cut cost down by using the old furnace for the blower and just replace the indoor coil and the condenser outside. they have t-stats now that will do all the brain work for the heat pump (switching heat sources) also you might try to find someone who installs goodman i have installed quiet a few of them and they are a good value for the price

Freezer and fresh food compartment are warm.

The fridge thermostat is faulty and not cutting in at the required temperature. Fridge stats are not easy to test, so the best way is to bypass the stat to see if the compressor starts. To bypass the stat first unplug the appliance and remove the stat housing from inside the fridge compartment, once you have removed the housing you will see the stat inside. Some stats have 2 terminals some have 3, whatever yours has you will need to connect the compressor wire ( Black) to the live wire (Red or White). When you have bypassed the stat plug the appliance back in and switch on, if the fridge starts up and runs ok you will need to purchase a new stat.
