Question about Refrigerators
You press the button with the edge of the glass you want to fill. It was pressed too hard and the clip broke that activates the lever to dispense water so i need to replace the part but I don't know how to get the cover off
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
It would be easier if I had a model number. The model number is on a label on the inside wall of your fresh food section.
The dispenser frame is held on with plastic clips behind the frame. These clips are easily broken.
On some frames there are 2 slot on the bottom of the frame where you insert a flat head screw driver and gently pop the bottom off. You must push in in the sides to release the frame from the retaining clips.
On other frames you must push in on the sides and flex the frame to release from the retaining clips.

SOURCE: No water or ice through door
sounds like the dispenser assembly is not sensing that the trap door is opening fully, so it wont send power to the auger motor or fill valve. If you are pretty handy, you can disassemble the door and take out the dispenser assembly and try to take the assembly apart and correct the throw on the trap door. Otherwise, I'm afraid you need a new dispenser to the tune of about $250 parts and $225 trip and labor. Good luck!

We just had this problem and we fixed it by peeling off the soft rubber covering (the part you press the glass against)and then putting it back on. There is a plastic tab beneath that could get stuck if the rubber part gets an air pocket or bent out of shape. This took 2 minutes and worked like a charm.

My Frigidaire side by side is a little different from tech17's solution. It has no slots for a screwdriver to pry it off. It is a model FLSC23F6D55 manufactured 3/05. There is a semicircular spill tray in the bottom of the recessed water station. Just pry out the tray, from the bottom corner of the frame from the side and or bottom. (I did this with a knife blade.) This tray is a snap-in fit. Then you will see three phillips head screws in the bottom of the frame. Take out these three screws and remove the frame by lifting up on it and pulling out at the bottom. Then take out three more phillips mounting screws to remove the processor card and key pad. You will then see the top of the water lever mounting. The lever comes out by removing two more screws that hold the pivot shaft of the lever. (These last screws are a little more diffiucult to get to, but not anywhere near impossible.) I wish you well.

Cut off a piece of line and go to a good hardware store, they can show you how to fix it. Need a coupling, and a nut and ferrel. House water line goes on one end of coupling, nut and ferrel on the broken water line on fridge. A good hardware store will be able to show you how to fix.

Check that the dispenser is not locked. Some models have a lock feature that deactivates the dispenser levers and control buttons. The lock button is on the dispenser front cover. This feature controls unintentional dispensing during cleaning. Press the "Unlock" or "Locked" button to reactivate the dispenser levers and allow dispenser function. You may need to hold the button for 2 to 3 seconds.
