Question about Samsung 1.8 cu ft Over-the-Range Microwave Stainless Steel SMH9187ST
Noticed this today and not sure what would cause this to happen. When I open the door on the microwave I can here the internal fan running. When I close the door the fan is not running. My ask is would this be caused by a bad control assy. or the door latch triggering the internal fans to engage, Looking to determine how to go about resolving this issue as this has never happened when opening the door.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If the mag overheats because its not being cooled it will shut down until its cool.
If the fan is turning slow you can try oiling it but it likely needs replacing.
Another thing that causes this is that the exaust port is blocked because its upagainst the wall and the hot air can not escape.

The spring attachment to the moving latch has broken off either replace the latch or drill a small hole in the latch body and attach some heavy steel wire to make a new attach point for the spring. the inside trim easily pops off and the latch just slides off.

SOURCE: MODEL MW543OW, TURN OVEN ON TO
That would be model MW5430W. but no matter.
I would suspect a bad door switch or door switch mount.

Testimonial: "very good feed back, thank you!"
You have a door switch issue. There are three behind the panel. If you can lift and hold the door and it starts one of them is bad for sure. You would be better off replacing all three or have a repair man replace them because a microwave can hold 3000v even unplugged.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
