I went from a wireless one 2xd and went to a 2xs as I was getting interference causing unit to be reset numerous times. I would use a cat5 cable for a lot less problems

Did not get a resource cd in my package. My network is not found

Go to www.netgear.com to download your resource software. You will need your model number, the N600 will not do it. Flip that router upside down or look on the sides for the actual model number or serial. Punch that in on the site to locate your download. Once you have downloaded it, run it. Hopefully that fixes your problem.

How connect to internet?

First you should check what kind of connection you have available in your home or office.
If you have a wireless connection, (and your computer has wireless capabilities)* then all you have to do is identify your network and enter the password. Try accessing the networking options and selecting "connect to an existing network". Most of the times, the password is written between brackets "[ ]" in the router or modem that was installed in your house.
On the other hand, if you have a wired connection available, you should try to connect the ethernet cable in your computer and then select the same option (connect to an existing network). This one should have no password. An ethernet cable is like a telephone cable, but wider.
Good luck!
* you should check this on the manual / specifications.

Hello I need to hardwire a tripplite n001-010-bl catse cable to a belkin cat5e keystone jack bel-r6d024-ab5e I do not know the correct wiring configuration to do this. Please advise?

The wiring is done as if you are building your own CAT5e wire. See the following URL: http://www.beginnercode.com/2006/11/09/connecting-network-cable-ends/ . There are other sites. As long as both ends are the same the cable will work (unless you want a crossover connection).

For a PDF version see: http://www.n-tron.com/pdf/cat5ecableschemes.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(Keystone jacks for ethernet come in two types: plug in RJ-45 and punch down the individual wires with the tool. All of the punch down jacks came with a diagram, had the wire arrangement indicated on the unit, and a cheap plastic punch down tool.)

I need to connect a D-Link router to my cable modem so that I can use my laptop anywhere in my home

Cable-modem <-- Ethernet cable --> WAN (or "Internet") port on the router

LAN port on router <-- Ethernet cable --> network-port on your laptop

Then, access the "built-in" web-server on the router,
and run the "Wireless Networking Setup" wizard:
* to set an SSID ("network-name")
* an encryption-level (Hint: choose 'wpa')
* a password for your wireless network

Then, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer,
and then "wireless available wireless networks".
Select your newly-created network, and connect to it.

I just installed the internet at home from mediacom and i needed to plug my d-link router to have a wireless network at home and i dont have the configuration disk for my router and i dont know how to make...

You NEVER need that CD-ROM disk. :-)

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from a LAN port on the router to the network-port on your computer.

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type CMD
Press Enter.
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter.
Look for output similar to:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.123.456
Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://192.168.123.456 (or whatever value that you saw).
Login to the router (ID: admin, password: [blank]).
Click to run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard".
Enter an SSID.
Choose an encryption-level (use: 'WPA').
Choose a password for your wireless network.
Save the changes.

Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and click "View Available Wireless Networks". Connect to the SSID that you chose, and enter the password.

It looks like the telecom module won't work for what we're trying to use it for. Take a look at this thread, which describes the reasons why.

Isp password and name?

Your ISP should give you your username and password, not the router manufacturer. To know how to punch it in your router, please refer to your router user manual.

I have switched internet to at&t dsl and now when i hook up wireless router i cannot connect to the internet can connect with only modem connected but not with both wirelss router and modem connected

hi there,
when you go through a router with dsl, your router stores your sign on and password. since you have a new providor, you need to get on your router's settings page through your browser, and change your settings to what at&t gave you. what did you have before-- cable internet? dial up? cable does not require an ID + password at all, your router will just pick it up. DSL requires that you tell the router what your sign on is... to get to your linksys login page, open your browswer and go to

http://192.168.1.1/

you have to 1st sign on to control your router-- usually it's username "admin" and no passwork... I hope you remember it!

second, the main screen, you need to punch in your AT&T info-- username and password. I assume it's PPPOE (PPP over ethernet)

hit save, and after it confirms, reboot your router (unplug for a minute) and your computer.

Home portal not yet activated

Hi,

XP is an very good OS which will connect with 2wire without any problem.

If your computer is not able to detect modem, pls follow these steps.

* Check for damage of ethernet cable
* Try to reset the modem by using a paper clip punching into the reset button
* Even if your modem is not detected, force the IP and Default gateway

Take care
