Question about Toshiba 65H84 65" Rear Projection HDTV
Its not worth it. the internals are so old that once you fix that, another part will fail. I hate to say it but since the mid 90s TVs are not worth fixing once they get this old. The parts that need to be changed are the CRTs and they are upwards of $1000 if you can even find them. Used CRTs are not worth the money as they will be just as worn out.

SOURCE: Vertical lines across the screen
I now have the same problem. Lines are on the left side of the screen almost have way across the screen, with a thicker line int he middle which is the same length. It started last week and stopped after fiddling with it. Now it comes on fine then about 5 min . in the lines appear. I have had the tv for 1.75 years myself and have had to deal with bulbs popping numerous times (3). Was this the same as yours? Did solutions work? Please do tell.

We also have vertical lines with our JVC 62"... turning it off and letting it cool down is the only solution. For us, we know it's a problem with heat. We simply are wits end on fixing it. added two additional fans, a exterior fan to blow heat away from the back of the tv, pulled everything else away, etc.... Anyway, goodluck.

sounds like you have sa bad what is called the hypermodule. ideally the best coarse of action would be to replace this. but do to the fact it is a common problem these cuircit boards are hard to come by. Toshibia has told us service centers how to repair these boards which involves replaceing 11 micro caps very very small compnents that usally involve twezzers and magnifier. not for the do it yoursefer. you can easlly damage the board and if that happens that ends the tv right there. at my shope such a repair runs 250 with the parts and labor but it will depend on the shop it is rather labor intensive even to remove the board
