You will have to root it. Google locked down access to the external SD card for security purposes in the latest Kitkat version. There are a lot of articles on how to do it. Do a google search for kitkat sd, and you will find lots of articles. I think there has been enough outrage that they may fix it in the next flavor.

How do I down load photo's from my Samsung 2 phone please

First make sure you have the correct USB drivers for your phone installed on your pc. Go to device manager and see if your phone or mass storage device is listed. If not, download the drivers here, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads. Make sure debugging on your phone is enabled. Please refer to the following:

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > Applications > Development" and enable "USB debugging".

  2. Then drag the status bar down and tap on "USB connected".

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android 4.0)

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > More... > USB utilities" and tap on "Connect Storage to PC".

  2. Then plug the USB cable into the device and connect to your computer.

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

  4. A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.

Why does my galaxy S1 say insufficient storage?

I saw " I was having a similar issue a couple weeks back. Though I had only used half my internal storage, I still couldn't copy anything :-/ I downloaded DiskUsage App and found that there is this LOST.DIR directory with about 6 GB in files. I read online about it and decided to delete it. Free space again! I don't know if this was your problem, but I didn't read anyone mention it. Seems that the phone makes these files when you connect to computer (in case there is a disconnect without "safe disconnect"). After a reboot, the LOST.DIR folder will come back but it'll stay empty." here... http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-t/662135-galaxy-s2-insufficient-storage-available.html

Hope it helps.

How do I clear my internal phone storage?

The external memory is the 16g card you have installed. The internal memory is the storage it has the phone itself. Most of it,it has been reduced from the OS (Android). Another issue may be that whatever you download can be saved only in your internal storage ( i am not sure) check it out!

Samsung galaxy S3 phone camera not working..When turn on camera,no other function button on screen works & it says "camera failed"..any help? Many thanks :)

Let me guess.. you are using an external SD card, correct?
And, now you are having this camera failed issue. It's due a corruption with the SD card.

1) Go to Settings>Application Manager>(swipe right to left until you see) ALL>(Scroll down the list to "Camera") Tap on Camera> press "Clear Cache".
2) Power off your phone.
3) Take the back cover off your phone.
4) Remove your SD card
5) Restart the device
6) Wait a couple minutes for the phone to fully load. Then, re-insert the SD card.

The camera issue should be fixed.

7) go to the camera app, in the camera settings change how the camera saves photos to phone storage only (NOT to SD card, this is where the problem occurs). Doing so will help the camera take photos faster. The SD card is too slow for the camera. After taking your photos, you can move them to the SD card to clean up space and back up your photos in case your phone ever crashes or you ever become locked out of your device. I would use the SD card to back up all files not just photos.

How do i transfer videos from the memory card of my samsung galaxy S 2 phone to my computer?

Connect the supplied USB cable from your cell phone to theUSB port on your computer.
The computer will see the cell phone as an external storage device or anexternal mass storage device, you can then open the video folder on your cellphone and copy the videos to your computer. An alternate method is to remove the micro SD memory cardfrom the cell phone and insert it into an USB card reader then connect it tothe USB port on your computer. You canthen open the video folder on the micro SD memory card and copy the videos toyour computer.
