SOURCE: Philco Turntable/CD with cassette

Sounds like a classic case of beltitis-most cd players incorporate a small belt attached to a motor and gear on the front of the unit,it either has went bad,bad meaning stretched out or it could be broke in two.Just because its new to you doesnt mean that it didnt sit in a hot warehouse for months before it was put on a retailers shelf. When rubber is subject to heat for long periods of time it breaks down the chemical which keeps elasticity.check that first,if the belt appears or seems to be in decent shape then clean the gear and belt with some isopropyl alcohol, environments like a restaurant which most likely have a lot of grease in the air can slowly built up on the parts inside causing things to slip, might as well spray some wd40 in there,if that isnt the case any of the above then you either have a bad motor ore bad motor ic,ok well good luck and have fun hope you get it going,i just found one in the dumpster that somebody was throwing away because the cd player does not work, good for me im a bench tech, the optic lens assembly is bad,for ten dollars i can replace it with a brand new one to keep this ****** rockin, bye

SOURCE: Denon D-90 Hi Fi - have lost interconnetion leads

Gents - not sure where you live, but try these UK links. The D65 was a similar system produced a year or two earlier, if the cable is 15 pin my bet is it is the same cable. Good luck, better look after my cables carefully!

Newer receivers that do not have a phono jack on the back require a preamp adapter between the turntable and amp to boost it before it gets amplified by the receiver.

I want tohook up a Kenwood KA-88 Amp. to a KT-58 Tuner to a DP-M5540 disc player and KA-68W Cassette deck. how do I do it?

Find the manuals or go by the basic INs to OUTs rule. REC = OUT, Play = IN. "Tuner" and "Aux/CD" are not literal. They're for anything BUT a turntable. But remember ONLY a turntable would ever use "PHONO".

This picture shows the rear of the KA-88

I´ve forgotten in what order I should connect my old (80´s) separate modul hifi system´s remote cables. It shuts down imadiatly when you try to start it with the remote. If I disconnect the...

I would have thought that it should go from the amp to the tuner, then the tape deck and finally the CD deck.

I'm suspecting that your tuner is faulty and thats whats causing the system to shut down

Re: Technics HD51 home stereo system (amp, tuner, CD, and cassette player) - I'm told it needs a pre-amp in order to get any reasonable amount of sound out of lp's on the Linn Sonex LP12 turntable. At the...

The Amplifier must have a high impedance input for the turntable to be connected. Now most of the present day amplifiers do not have this input but only the regular aux input which is designed for a larger signal . But the turntable outputs is quite low and so it requires an amplification of high order. What you can do if you need to play the turntable is to have first a preamplifier with a high impedance which is available even inkit form and can be fitted on to your system. The preamp output can be shared into the input of the source selector maybe with a switch and you willl be able to fix two RCA sockets to accept the input of the phono. This will work fine provided the shielding is done well to avoid the high feedbacck to oascillate and cause noise, the premap must be housed in a shielded cabin. On the other hand you may have to buy a universal amplifier so that the phono input is present. Definetely nothing better than a designed input. So think and decide. hope I could help; Good day

Can you still get the px-e860 turntable? The one I have won't make any sound thru the speakers

Judging by my own experiences with hifi gear on eBay there is little on the face of the planet that ever really becomes UNavailable.

Wouldn't an attempt to resolve the issue work, too?

Describe your setup (preamp, amp, whatever) and if it has ever or never worked.

This unit can work through its own preamp with any audio equipment or with old-school gear already having an internal Phono Preamp. There's a switch to select which one.

Akai PX-E855K turntable - switchable pre-amp - how?

To my knowledge this is no switchable pre-amp on this unit. Just connect to your own phono pre-amp and you should be ok.

No sound from turntable bought for our hi fi system

Hi,

Most if not all turntables would need to be connected to a PHONO INput which is high impedance with a high gain pre-amplifier stage. It will not work when connected to an AUX, CD or any line level inputs. Alternately, if your amp does not have any Phono Inputs, you can feed the turntable output to a preamp which can then be connected to any any line level inputs. An example may be found here or here. Additionally, there are some turntables with a built-in preamp.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Technics ST-X302L tuner - Unit not powering on

i have the same unit and a similar problem, after a fall of the tuner on the floor while i was cleaning my room, first times the st-x302l was powering fine but after some minuts it quit alone.. now (i dont know why) it remains on but if there is an interruption of electricity it dont turn on anymore, it turn on only by removing the metal chassis and moving random the electronics.. i think it has some electronic contact or circuit break.. i brought it to a specialist in electronics and he told me the reparation would be too expensive so i prefer to try fix it by myself.
