Question about Thomson DPL 550HT Theater System
The system is about 10 years old and i am not sure how or when the problem started. I am pretty sure that it is not a connectivity issue since there is no distortion in the sound, it just cuts right off and then back on endlessly. But i am willing to try any suggestions.
I would have to guess that the internal power supply has one or more bad capacitors. Time to take into a technician for repairs.

If the "check speaker" is always turning on, it is possible the amp itself is shorted at the IC. Replace AMP IC pack or if it has N and P channel output transistors acheck them. Some amps do use a thermister and this could be burned open in circuit.
