Machine was sewing ok for a short while all of a sudden it does not feed the material

Could be that you accidentally dropped the feed dogs. If the feed dogs are in the raised position and you have the stitch length set to at least #2 or higher, you should be able to see the feed dogs raise, move toward the back of the machine, then drop below the needle plate, and travel toward the front of the machine to begin the process again. If that is not happening the feed dogs have seized. If yours is an older mechanical machine, it could be that the old glue has dried and preventing the parts from moving like they should. If that is the case, your machine could benefit from a good service technician (cleaning, oiling & adjustment).

I have a athena 2000 electronic and the tension dial does not move the feeding dogs so to be able to adjust the tension how can I fix it

The tension has nothing to do with the feed dogs. All the feed dogs is move to pull the fabric through the machine. Tension regulates the amount of tension applied to the thread as it stitches.

Bernina artista 200, how do i control the feed dogs?

Not sure what you are asking. The stitch length will determine how far the feed dogs travel (thus pulling the fabric) to create each stitch. There is also the foot (or knee) control that determines the speed that the machine runs.

The page 21 of the manual has that information:

How do i control the feed dog?

The feed dog travel is controlled by the stitch length. The feed dog lever controls whether they are raised or lowered, ie for darning or free motion quilting.

Janome problem feed dog won't "grip" fabric being sewed

adjust the pressure foot presser tension or try to raise a bit the feed dogs

Why does the backing gather up even though it is penned and sprayed with quilting spray

Presser foot tension is to low for the weight/finish of the fabric, or bottom dogs are worn.
  • The feed dog feeds the fabric under the presser foot while you guide the fabric.

  • The feed dog regulates the stitch length by how much fabric passes under the presser foot as the machine stitches.

  • It is important for you to not push and pull the fabric under the presser foot. Allow the feed dog to move the fabric, so that you do not bend and break sewing machine needles.
Hope this helps.

Model 385-15343600 Serial 71073690 The stitches are very, very small all the time regardless which of the tension used (bobbin and needle).

The stitch length dial needs to be set to a lower number (number of stitches per inch) to give you longer stitches. The tensions do not regulate the stitch length, the feed dogs regulate the distance the material is advanced between stitches. Also, make sure the pressure foot is applying enough pressure to keep the material in firm enough contact with the feed dogs.

Teeth do not move material forward when sewing

the problem is the feed dog is in the wrong position,, in the operation manual it should tell where the feed dog is on that sewing machine, & what position it's suppose to be in to sew normally

The fabric isn't feeding, and i've noticed that the dogs move up and down at an angle, but don't move back and forth

Make sure that your feed regulator is set properly. It can very well be a mechanical problem check to see what happens when you engage the reverse. Do the feed dogs move front to back and up and down at full stitch length? Or can it be that the regulator knob is slipping and not adjusting your feed mechanism? visit my site
