SOURCE: Oven Temp

After it drops temperature, how do you get it back to the desired degrees? It sounds like the thermostat isn't keeping up.

SOURCE: Oven won't light

I am assuming this is a gas stove. You probably need a new flint in the igniter. Simple problem. Check your local hardware store for flint, and refer to your manufacturer's manual for how to install it. If it's not there, a quick call to a service technician should answer the problem. hope this has been helpful.

SOURCE: I have a KitchenAid double oven with convection on

it will either be the sensor or the board, hopefully it's not the board, the part number for the sensor is 4455636 and subs to w10131825,the sensor is around 100 bucks, there should be a tech sheet on the machine most likely behind the touch pad on the top,it will tell you how to check the sensor with a meter, just unplug the sensor and read it out i think it's around 1100 ohms but check that on the tech sheet,if it's not the sensor most likely it will be the board part number 4453661 and that's around 300 buckseverything runs through this computer board but the sensor tells it how hot it is in the oven hopefully you have a bad sensor.let me know what you find, you'll most likely have to pull the oven to repair it but maybe just enough to get the top open, good luck

SOURCE: Greetings, LG oven model # LSC5622WS

Hi!
Let's try this:
1. Disconnect power for at least 30 seconds.
2. Re-apply power and observe for at least one minute.
3. If code re-appears, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

It could possibly be you are not getting 240 volts to the range. The top igniter may be getting a current back through the other side of the 240 circuit and that is why it works when the oven is turned on but the oven will not be getting power to heat. Have the 240 circuit checked or make sure the circuit breakers are reset correctly.

Griddle top replacement

well this is different, but sounds like fun. I would just Repair the gas griddle you have. from the sound of it you need to replace the 3 or 4 tstats that control the griddle. If you are in a Metro area you can find a dealer for Robert Shaw and get the parts you need. but you may also start at http://www.garland-group.com/. everything there will be newer but you will be able ask about where the data plate is and then get parts lists. call a small comercial kitchen repair company and ask for help there too.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. Yes this is an awful time to be without an oven, unfortunately as a technician it is one of three busiest times of year for ovens/ranges, the others being Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holidays.

The other bad news is this, the hot surface ignitor is likely the problem and cannot be by-passed or manipulated into functioning.

However, if the boiler has the same ignitor one could in theory swap the ignitor`s ( very carefully, they are very fragile and don`t like to be handled & remember to unplug the range from the wall ) and it will allow you to use the bake burner, but it will leave you without the broil function. I guess that is the lesser of two evils right now.

When there is a part`s place open near you or on-line you can ask for part number 12400035. That is the most common for Maytag built gas oven`s, but double check with your model number with the part`s professional`s.

Hope that help`s. Sorry to be the barer of unfortunate news, but with some hope sprinkled in...hopefully.

Let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.

Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair needs.

Oven tempeture lower than setting by 100 degrees on 350. even after pre-heat cycle. slightly more accurate at higher temps. i have a regular oven thermometer to check it. it was working well until...

Hey-  Let's fix this thing.  Several things can affect indicated/actual temperature.  The temp probe should test ok across it's lead wires at around 1100ohms. The computer usually shows a fault if the circuit is open, but won't show a code if it hasn't failed completely.  The next suspect is the igniter for the oven burner.  These can become weak with age, affecting gas flow to burner. Testing igniter is not really possible when it comes on and the part is usually replaced.  The regulator is next in line, occasionally causing variable flow to burner.  As you can see, quite a bit to consider.  On site diagnostics is usually required, but this gives you a start.  Installation instructions are available for all parts.     Please acknowledge this post if my info and time spent helps you.  Have more info if needed.  Thanks- Ed

My oven is burning my baked goods, but shows the right temp with a thermometer. Do I have to turn the dial to broil and then back to the desired temp? Even if the rack is in the middle, everything burns....

If it is convection bake you have to turn the temp down (25 degrees or so) that is listed in the recipe.

The broil setting is not used to bake because it operates differently from the bake setting. So, don't go to the broil setting at all.
The element for bake is under the floor of the oven. You have not indicated whether it is gas or electric, but both of these can have issues with the burner or element.

If you are baking on the correct setting and the oven is heating from the bottom, not the top, this can be caused by hot spots that are created by elements/burners.

to check, look under the floor of the oven. Turn the bake heat up to high and see if the flame is uneven. For an electric oven, the color of the element should be evenly red, no brown spots.

If you are using an oven thermometer, move the thermometer to the spot in the oven that seems to be burning things the most.

Oven lights on low flame but will not come up on high flame .cannon chester cooker.suspect by pass is not working. Do I need control knob/thermostat with the phial. Thanking you.

all gas range ovens have a small metal box in the back upper area of the broiler burner; a gas line runs into this box as do two wires; this is a "flame control " gas valve; the way it works is: after the pilot has been lit as you turn the oven temp control a heating element in the box causes a small valve to open allowing a larger amount of gas into the oven burner to ignite the whole burner If you can only get pilot flame on high replace this valve

Too hot

Hi, not sure if you ever received a reply, but there is a setting known as "bypass" on commercial thermostats, if you took the cover off to replace it, you can access this screw, it is part of the body of the thermostat, either to the left or the right of the knob shaft, usually has a "B" stamped, or molded into the body. What this setting does is when the thermostat reaches temperature, it would normally close, shutting off the supply to the burner, thus the temp would begin to fall, by the time it opened back up, the temp would have fallen too much, causing a large temp swing. The bypass setting opens or shuts a passage that "bypasses" the thermostat main valve, keeping just a little burner, making the swing, or fluctuation smaller. So, you probably have a setting too big, causing your bypass flame to be too big, raising, or keeping the temp too high, try turning it in (cw) to lower it slightly, a small turn makes a huge difference, so go easy. Hope that helps, and thank you.
