OBD11 tool and everything works fine ??? That'sjust for the engine computer ! Need a professional type scan tool to view instrument cluster data . The instrument cluster has a microprocessor inside an can set DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , separate from OBD2 . A bad cluster could bring down the Serial data network causing all kind of problems . Do you know what a data network is ? Your ford has SCP network .

Car wont start traction light is on gas gage wont work temperature wont wrk air conditioner blows hot air key wont come out of switch doors lock with key in switch if cars left running

With all of the electrical problems your having , your best bet would be to take it to a ASE certified repair shop ! Because the first place to start is hooking a professional grade scan tool to see if all the modules on the vehicle are communicating with the scan tool an each other ! I don't know the existent of your knowledge of your vehicle ! Your vehicle has at lest ten computers onboard an they all communicate on a serial data communication network , Class2 The data link connector (DLC) allows a scan tool to communicate with the class 2 serial data line. This serial data line is the means by which the microprocessor-controlled modules in the vehicle communicate with each other. Once the scan tool is connected to the class 2 serial data line through the DLC, the scan tool can be used to monitor each module for diagnostic purposes and to check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Class 2 serial data is transmitted on a single wire at an average of 10.4 kbps. This value is an average, class 2 uses a variable pulse width modulation to carry data and depending on the message it may operate faster or slower. The bus will float at a nominal 7.0 volts during normal operation. Each module can pull this lower during the transmission. The bus is not at battery positive voltage or ground potential during normal operation. When the ignition switch is in RUN, each module communicating on the class 2 serial data line sends a state of health (SOH) message every 2 seconds to ensure that the module is operating properly. When a module stops communicating on the class 2 serial data line, for example if the module loses power or ground, the SOH message it normally sends on the data line every 2 seconds disappears. Other modules on the class 2 serial data line, which expect to receive that SOH message, detect its absence; those modules in turn set an internal DTC associated with the loss of SOH of the non-communicating module. The DTC is unique to the module which is not communicating, for example, when the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) SOH message disappears, several modules set DTC U1088. Note that a loss of serial data DTC does not normally represent a failure of the module that set it.
. The ignition on you caddy has a safety system known as
Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator for floor shift or
Linear Shift Assembly: If the vehicle is equipped with a column mounted gear shift, it has a linear shift assembly on the steering column. The linear shift assembly has a cable that runs from the linear shift assembly to the ignition lock cylinder case. The purpose of this cable is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in gear and the vehicle may still be moving. The linear shift assembly cable contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the dash integration module (DIM). The PMM receives 2 signals from the ignition switch.
To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits
?€¢
Accessory voltage

?€¢
Run/Crank voltage

I have 08 ford escape when I try to scan it said no communication

Do you know about communication networks or serial data communications on vehicles , these let the scan tool communicate with the different modules on the vehicle ! Newer vehicles have several, PCM - powertrain control module , Anti-theft module , Air bags , antilock brakes , Body control module or in the case of ford a smart junction box . an some others !
Communications Network Vehicle communication utilizes both International Standards Organization (ISO) 9141 and controller area network (CAN) communications. ISO 9141 is used for diagnostic use only, and CAN is used for many modules to communicate with each other on a common network. CAN in-vehicle networking, is a method for transferring data among distributed electronic modules via a serial data bus. Without serial networking, intermodule communication requires dedicated, point to point wiring resulting in bulky, expensive, complex, and difficult to install wiring harnesses. Applying a serial data network reduces the number of wires combining the signals on a single network. Information is sent to the individual control modules that control each function.
The vehicle has 3 module communication networks:
  • ISO 9141
  • Medium speed (MS) CAN
  • High speed (HS) CAN
All 3 networks are connected to the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one scan tool to be able to diagnose and control any module on the 3 networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the audio unit.
HS-CAN Network Operation
The HS-CAN network communicates using bussed messages. The HS-CAN network uses an unshielded twisted pair cable, data bus (+) and data bus (-) circuits. In addition to scan tool communication, this network allows sharing of information between all modules on the network.
The HS-CAN is a high speed communication network used for the following modules:
  • ABS module
  • 4WD control module (if equipped)
  • Instrument cluster
  • PCM
  • MS-CAN Network Operation
The MS-CAN network communicates using bussed messages. The MS-CAN has an unshielded twisted pair cable, data bus (+) and data bus (-) circuits. In addition to scan tool communication, this network allows sharing of information between all modules on the network.
The MS-CAN is a medium speed communication network used for the following modules:
    • Instrument cluster
    • SJB
    HS-CAN Network
  • What type of scan tool are you using ? or are you using a code reader ?

Do you know what a serial data network is ? With all the computers car makers put on thier cars these day's they need a communication network for them to talk ,share info. on etc. U codes are codes for the network . A module could be down ,could be a wiring problem . A shorted module or bus wire can bring down the whole vehicle. Could cause the vehicle not to start ,systems not to function . How did you pull this code ,with what scan tool or code reader ? Did it come from the PCM - engine computer ? Need a up scale professional scan tool to check all module's on the vehicle , need to pin point the module that is causing the problem .

MS-CAN Network Operation
The MS-CAN network communicates using bussed messages. The MS-CAN has an unshielded twisted pair cable, data bus (+) and data bus (-) circuits. In addition to scan tool communication, this network allows sharing of information between all modules on the network.
The MS-CAN is a medium speed communication network used for the following modules:
  • SJB
  • Audio unit
  • Instrument cluster
  • DSM (if equipped)
  • DVD player (if equipped)
  • EATC module (if equipped)
  • Parking aid module (if equipped)

The HS-CAN network communicates using bussed messages. The HS-CAN network uses an unshielded twisted pair cable, data bus (+) and data bus (-) circuits. In addition to scan tool communication, this network allows sharing of information between all modules on the network.
The HS-CAN is a high speed communication network used for the following modules:
  • PCM
  • TCM (if equipped)
  • RCM
  • ABS module
  • Instrument cluster
  • Occupant classification sensor module
  • 4WD control module (if equipped)
Network Termination
The CAN network uses a network termination circuit to improve communication reliability. The network termination of the CAN bus takes place inside the termination modules by termination resistors. Termination modules are located at either end of the bus network. As network messages are broadcast in the form of voltage signals, the network voltage signals are stabilized by the termination resistors. Each termination module has a 120 ohm resistor across the positive and negative bus connection in the termination module. With 2 termination modules on each network, and the 120 ohm resistors located in a parallel circuit configuration, the total network impedance, or total resistance is 60 ohms.
Network termination improves bus message reliability by:
  • stabilizing bus voltage.
  • eliminating electrical interference.
Gateway Module
The instrument cluster is the gateway module, translating HS-CAN to MS-CAN and vice versa. This information allows a message to be distributed throughout both networks. The instrument cluster is the only module on this vehicle that has this ability.

Mk3 caddy no instrument cluster lights. It starts and cuts out again immediately?

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop that has a professional or factroy diagnostic tool . Sounds to me like a communication network problem . You probably are unaware of the complexity of the electronic's on your vehicle . Serial data communication network between modules - PCM , BCM , instrument cluster , ABS , Air bag , an more ,like 20 or so. GM LAND serial data bus is GM'S version of C.A.N - controller area network .
How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN messing with thing's you don't know about can make your vehicle useless . Ground out can wire's bring's down the whole network . Module's won't communicate , anti-theft system won't send it's data to the PCM/ECM ,so the computer won't allow the vehicle to start an run .
