Kitchenaid dishwaser poor cleaning KUDS24SE

I cant fine anything wrong with the unit. It fills and drains properly, water temp is good, spray arms rotate properly, soap dispenses correctly, etc. Yet there are always food particles left on dishes. It seems to create the stuff even when the dishes are washed first.

Same problem exactly (food particles left on dishes even after pre-washing them) except I changed the water inlet valve hoping that would fix it (it didn't) & my model # is KUDM24SEAL1.

I'm in the same boat, and not happy with our Kitchenaid. I have not found a solution to the problem

  • jhh1822 Sep 21, 2008

I have a Kitchenaid Superba dishwasher and have the same problem.  It leaves hardened crumbs inside mugs and sometimes inside other dishes as well, despite the fact that we clear off dishes before loading them.

  • brucep216 Nov 01, 2008

same symptoms with food particles left inside glasses oand on top of mugs and any other dish that has a raised bottom lip

  • mr2986 Dec 14, 2008

Same problem. 6 month old K/A KUDU03stss. Residue left non dishes after ANY cycle, including heavy sani-wash, sani dry. Same problem with any detergent. RIDICULOUS for $1300+ unit. Our last K/A lasted 22 years and cleaned much better...

    What else can I check??

There are 2 likely candidates. The first is the chopper - the device that grinds up the food. The second is the check valve - a rubber flapper that sets to the right of the chopper. Over time it becomes stuck open which reduces pressure at the spray arms.

Good luck - I had the same issue on my KUDR01J.

I had the same problem. I determined it was the detergent. After tring several various liquids and powders the only thing that does the job is a detergent that contains enzymes. The one I am currently using is Cascade Action Pacs.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes completely model # kudso3ftss3

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

We have an older KitchenAid dishwasher (Model e) that cleans dishes on the lower rack just fine but not the ones on top. Anyone have any ideas why or fixes?

Be sure you are not blocking the spray arm for the top rack. If your dishwasher has a telescoping spray arm in the botton center that retracts when the dishwasher is off, be careful about covering it with the dishes

Dishes don't seem to be coming clean in dishwasher. Plasticware seems cloudy and etched. Other plactic pieces look cloudy. Whites plates appear clean.

Dishwasher not cleaning properly - soap dispenser does not empty. Dishes are not dry

you might have water problem if the unit fill with water but not spray the water all over that can be the problem and it can be fix.
to see if the spray arm is working good - after the unit fill with water and it sound that it start cleaning open it slowly and put the arm in any angle you want then close the door so it can run again , then open again see if it moved .
if it didnt move then ou have a spray unit problem or pump problem , but if it did move look on the spray arm hols you might have food or something got stuck in them, and cleaning them will help .
let me know what you found and i can help you more...

Gritty Dishes

The only thing that can cause grit in the dishwasher is something you put in it or it's not rinsing as it should. As you use tablets we can probably rule that out. If you don't have hard water we can rule that out too.. So next up is not rinsing properly. The spray arm in the bottom of the unit has little holes in it. Many times junk that gets by the filter end up in these holes. When that happens the water will not spray out correctly, your dishes don't get properly cleaned and rinsed. Pull out the bottom rack, you might need a flashlight but you need to look at each hole in each arm and see if they are clogged. Even if you don't physically see anything remove the spray arm and clean it, sometimes stuff will fall back into the arm when there is no more water trying to flow. It is very easy to remove. Anyway, remove the spray arm, pick out anything you see stuck in the holes, run water back thru the holes in your sink and re-install the spray arm.. Hopefully this is your problem. Here is a video (it's not mine) which shows how to remove the spray arm.. good luck !

Dishes on top shelf are not comming clean

Check these things out.

Debris caught in spray arm holes. Remove spray arm and clean out with water and compressed air.

Heating element burned out. Check water temp during wash--should read between 130 to 140 F.

Insufficient water fill in basin. In most models, proper fill level is just up to the heating element. Much less than this will result in poor cleaning.
