Question about Panasonic Tc-p42c2 Viera C2 Series 42" 600hz 720p Plasma Hdtv W/hdmi

1 Answer

TV will only allow me access to the two input sources I locked in when I bought it. I now need one of the other choices that is grayed out.

I have left the TV unplugged but that didn't reset it. I need to clear all choices so I can start over with a new installation.

Found the answer. Under the "name label" option, choose the "not used" choice for each option. This will remove the "gray out" and make them accessible. An option will also be available if you give it a name. Choosing "blank" at an option will cause that option to gray out and not be an available choice.

You should be able to access the initial setup features from the main menu.

Sharp aquos 60" TV has sound but only a gray picture. Was fine then, went gray. Help?

Do you see the menu when you press the menu button. If the menu looks ok, then you may have a problem with one of your inputs. Try a different input port and change the TV to that input. Also try a new cable and try a DVD input or other video source to help isolate the problem.

I just set it up (it is used) and I can't get to the "Channel Manager" in the setup menu, as it is grayed out. I can't auto program because of my inability to access this menu function.

Hi,
Channel menu will be grayed out if tv is set on AV Input, select TV source by remote or press any channel number to set tv on tv source, this will enable channel manager/ menu to tune channels in tv.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks

Lock the A/V ports

Hi there,

Yes you can, you have three diferent lock options:

'channel' this option allows you to lock or unlock particular channels.
'program' this option allows you to lockout a particular TV show.
'game' this option allows you to lock channel 3 and channel 4 plus the external inputs.

To activate the game lock on the tv you need to press the 'menu' key then press the down arrow till you get to 'lock' and press ok.You will then be asked to input a password, if it is the first time you have used the password then you will need to input a code of your choice twice to register it (write the password down and put it somewhere safe) Then you will be in the 'lock' menu so using the down arrow go to 'menu' and select it then se it to 'custom' you will then be able to select the 'game' option by arrowing down to 'game' and select it so that it shows 'on'. Your tv should now have locked out the external inputs etc. To unlock it you go through this procedure again just this time you select so it shows 'off' You can also select 'custom' in 'game' mode which will allow you to select which external inputs to lock which is useful if you have DVD players or other devices connected to your TV and is something for you to consider. Full details of above procedure are in the user manual page 32 - 33 under the heading Lock.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards,
James

Sp4805 turns on by itself, direct tv picture will run for a short while then dorps out. I can't seem to pick a source? I tried my dvd player and it seemed to work normally. menu options are not highlighted...

In the sources menu where you assign sources, the second selection from the bottom is where you enable/disable sources which can inhibit a source/input from working even if it is assigned. Also check mark the auto source enable box.
If the input you are trying to use is not assigned or enabled many of the menu items are grayed out.

A quick fix is selecting the "factory reset" in the menu as the default factory settings are such that all input's are set to work.

Good Luck!

When I try to set our TV to locate digital channels, the menu skips the channel selection when I scroll through options of picture, audio, channel, lock, setup. All the options are available.

It sounds like your TV is on a different input. If you watch your cable from an external cable box, and this box is plugged into your TV using wires that are yellow, red, and white, or red, blue, green, red and white, you're currently watching TV on a different input than the one used for the antenna. Channels in a TV are controlled by the tuner. The tuner is the silver, threaded, post on the back of a TV, DVR, converter box, or VCR, that you plug an antenna or cable wire to. The tuner contols channels while the other inputs on your TV carry a direct signal like a computer to a monitor. So when you use something other than coaxial cable to connect cable to your TV, you can't access the channel menu while on that input. To access that menu, change the TV's input or source to TV or stop when you see a channel number on the screen. You have to be on the TV or tuner input in order to access the channel menu. If you're on any other input such as, S-Video, AV1, AV2, component (Yp Br Cr), HDMI, etc. you will not be able to do a channel scan. You have to be on the right input or source.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Samsung T220HD - can't access HDMI input sources

If it like my monitor, same hookups as yours, then when you want to use the hdmi port you need to disconnect the dvi cable. The monitor cannot read from hdmi & dvi when both are connected, Try this & see if your PS3 works. Good luck.

PLV-Z2 AV System Menu locked on 1080i

If I understand your description correctly, when comparing it with my Z2, this is a function of the input type. If you have the input set to DVI and ANY digital source connected, the projector selects the mode that it is receiving and does not allow you to modify it. The options on this menu are only available when using an analog input. Try switching to any of the analog inputs and see if the option doesn't re-appear. It seemed strange to me too at first, but it makes sense because the digital input does not require "fine tuning" to convert it from analog to digital because it is already digital and therefore the signal itself skips this conversion step and the menu that goes with it.

What input did you connect the satalite to? Probably one of the 'video' inputs I'm guessing, which means you have to select that video source using the 'INPUT' button on your remote. (Some makers use different names but you get the idea)
Hope Ya Fix it!
