Where are the oiling points and what would make the threads constantly break

Depends on your make & model machine. Newer computerized machines require little or no oiling. Consult your owner's manual AND use only good quality sewing machine oil.

After threading the machine, start to sew and the thread breaks it seems that it gets caught in step 4 in Threading The Machine in the manual.

Not knowing the make & model of the machine limits out ability to help. What is Step 4? When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. Verify that the thread path is correct--mis-threading is a frequent cause of broken thread.

My sewing machine model#385-12312 serial #24027509 The thread keeps breaking. I have changed the needle few times but it doesn't work.

Could be several reasons: mis-threaded, tension too tight, thread snagging on something or wrapped around something in the thread path, incompatibility of needle/thread/fabric... Also, avoid old or bargain bin variety thread--use only fresh good quality thread.

I cant get my bobbin to thread i have followed all the instructions it seems that the needle just isnt picking it up

Try to adjust the needle , enough to catch the bobbins thread and not too close to avoid breakage. The needle might be in a higher setting.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT PUTTING AN OPEN BELT DRIVE PRIMARY ON MY FLHRC WOULD THERE BE AN ADVANTAGE WITH LESS VIBRATION OR ?

Open belt drives are for one thing and, in my opinion, one thing only, looks. Personally, I wouldn't have one. They look plain dangerous to me.

The biggest problem people have with them is belt breakage. Harley came out with two models that had dual belt drives, the Surgis models and the FXDG "Disc Glide" in 1984. Both models used the same type of belt drive which was a fairly narrow belt. Owners were plagued with belt breakage problems and some even converted the bikes to chain drive like the rest of the bikes Harley made had on them.

I'm sure belt drives have improved since then but as to what the advantages of a belt drive is over a chain drive, I have no idea. Some say that it reduces maintenance, a claim that I don't buy. My vote is against it but then, It is your bike.
