May have to take it in to get serviced but if it were me I would start taking it apart if the tray failed.

When i insert a disc into my laptop it comes back out

It happens when the disk is not properly put in the tray or there is some foreign element stuck in the tray. Check if either of the two reasons are behind it.

I'd suggest you spray compressed air on the front opening slot when the tray is out, to get rid of any superficial dust.

Dell inspiron dvd drive stuck in open position

Remove the drive from the laptop. You should be able to remove a plate from the drive casing and realign the disc tray with the tracks of the drive. This is fairly normal when too much pressure is applied to the tray while inserting a disc.

Hi, I have a Dell Studio 1558 Laptop. I have a dvd stuck in it. If restarted it will detect it initially but as i press eject button or right click the drive n click eject, then it shows no disc in drive....

Take a paper clip and straighten it. Easy goes - insert it in the small hole in the tray, just a little at a time. When you start to feel resistance, gently push a tiny bit more, and the tray will open. But do remember - be careful, don't just jam it in or you may damage your DVD as well as your tray. Sounds like you may need to have a new drive installed.

Disc jam

Hello there,

To manually remove any disk from your ROM tray, simply use a paper clip or any straight wire that can reach up to at least 2 inches long.

1) straighten paper clip.
2) look for the manual eject hole which is usually located near the eject button.
3) insert the pin/clip and push firmly to eject the tray.

Hope this helps.

is there a tiny whole in your ps3? in which you could insert a small pin? if not. then the disc tray may be stuck. you could try lifting the disc tray with a pliers or something that can hold the tray and slowly pull the disc tray as you press the eject tray. Pm me for any clarifications.

Paper stucked in the dvd tray.

You must take the "lid" of the main unit itself, and remove any boards and/or circuitry that are blocking your access to the tray. usually there's not a lot in there coveing the tray.

Disonnect the unit from the mains before removing the lid, of course.

Hi Ernie,

There should be a tiny little hole on the front of the CD drive, next to where you would usually press the button to eject it. Turn the laptop off (or at least wait until the CD stops spinning) and insert a straight paper clip into the hole. You will have to insert it perfectly straight and apply a little pressure. Doing this should manually pop the CD tray open.

Hope the helps!

With the slot load models the whole system needs to be disassembled to retrieve a stuck disc. Are you absolutely sure there is a disc in the drive? If so, it needs serviced and may need the drive replaced.
