Basically I have bought this car off somebody in the family and they showed me the whole car including the sound system, which worked fine. Just slot in my Kenwood KDC -W3037, turn it on and it works....

After the car was sitting a month, did you have to jump the car to start it? If so, jumper cables may have crossed poz and neg at battery! this can blow fuse at radio or fuse box! there is no protection from this and could have burn radio up! hope it is only a fuse! Good luck!

Kenwood kdc mp242, no sound, ford explorer, 94

if that ford had premium sound you have either not hooked up the factory amp or you have blown a fuse to it. you won't get sound unless that amp is hooked up.

I have a Kenwood KDC 135 car stereo wont un mute.

behind the face plate there is a little recessed reset button. push it using the tip of a pen or similar. that will fully reset the radio to like it was when you bought it.

Some times head units hicup. this is how you reset it. In most error cases this solves the problem.

Got a new Kenwood KDC-128 car radio recently, fitted it but the radio presets would not stay when the ignition was turned off. Then it stopped working altogether and I noticed the 10amp fuse at the back...

you need to hook the yellow wire off the back of the radio up straight to the battery this keeps memory power to the head unit then wire the wires in color coded sequence red to red black to black so on and so forth if this doesnt fix it you might want to think about replacing head unit

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
