Why does my dryer have no heat and keeps running when i use the timed heat-sensing selection?

Suspect vent still plugged with lint, leave vent disconnected and run dryer, stay within eyesight when doing this, if the dryer dries the clothes, then look for blockage in the vent pipe to the outside.

I want to know how hot my dryer gets. I do not have temp. controls on my model

Good Morning Tabitha,

I see that you are looking to see how hot your Frigidaire dryer, model# FER311FS, actually gets, due to you not having temperature controls on your particular model. Being that you have just the timed dry cycle, it provides up to 100 minutes of drying time at high heat for regular and permanent press items. When drying permanent press items, turn the cycle selector to 40-50 minutes. This is the average time needed to dry most loads of permanent press items. The load tumbles without heat during the last 10 minutes of the Timed Dry cycle. Use this setting to refresh clothing, pillows or blankets or to dust draperies. Heat-sensitive items such as plastics, foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials or items containing feathers or down should be dried only with this setting. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

dryer has a restriction in the venting process; disconnect vent hose and run dryer should work, if not then you will need to take apart and clean out all the lint inside the dryer.

WED5321SQ0 dryer doesn't heat or shut off once it's running

well if ran all night you maybe be running a even heat or auto dry cycle. i would first try on a timed dry see if heat then. if does heat (which probably wont) you will be need to replace either the sensor or board that controls the auto dry. or a very small chance that the timers bad. most likely you have a bad heating element. if the machine doesnt heat on the timed dry, then you need to check continuity on the heat fuse(located on heat element housing). if good then check continuity on heat element. i would say you have a bad element or heat fuse.

Dryer gets hot, but not drying clothes

Check the following areas thoroughly to address this issue.

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

4. Moisture Sensor
Most units will have a moisture or dryness sensor as well that will fail. inspect the sensor for faults. replace if necessary.

Dryer #69501 taking long time to dry.

All you need for proper dry times are good airflow and correct heat. As long as you're satisfied with the airflow, pull the venting off the back of the dryer and with a glass bulb thermometer, measure the exhaust temps at the back of the dryer, for most models, the high heat setting should reach roughly 160F +/- 10% before cycling the heat off....check this at the beginning of the cycle, and again after it has been running for 20-30 minutes. If that checks ok, just remember the industry standard for a normal size load of clothing is 60 minutes. If not, please let me know with a re-post, and please include a full model number (should begin either 417 or 110).

LGE59777S Not drying

There is a little sensor that tells the dryer when to heat and when not to heat. that sensor is bad. If you take the back of the dryer off you will see it. It is about the size of a half dollar and has 2 wires that plug into it. While you have it apart make sure that the dryer vent on the back of the dryer is not plugged with lint. Major cause for fires in dryers.

if you were running it on timed cycle and it was still running with no heat then you have a bad timer and if you were running it on auto cycle and it was still running and its electric dryer then you have a bad element ,,, if its gas you may have a bad ignitor / larry
