Q-See System Not Listed in available computers

I'm trying to setup a 2701-HG-D router to port forward to a Q-see camera
system. When I go into the firewall section, the Q-see system isn't in the
list of computers. I've defined the IP/Gateway to match the router ( and, and can route to the camera on the local
network (using the IP), but I can't get the 2wire router to see the camera
system. Any thoughts would be appreaciated.

Re: Q-See System Not Listed in available computers

This instruction will work, I had same problem. 2WIRE rep sent this instruction to me. But, I still can't view my Qsee DVR remotely, I still have problem accesing the DVR. If you know how to view remotely please let me know.

- Open your Internet Browser of choice (i.e. Internet Explorer, FireFox)
- Surf to the website http://homeportal/management
- Under troubleshooting, click on Network Tests.
- Ping the IP address that has been assigned to the DVR.
- Check the Device List. It should show up now.

  • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

2wire 2701 block port 80

Go to the following link. This is just an example on how to forward ports for limewire. Use the same steps to forward port 80.

If it still doesnt work, try updading the firmware. In case this fails, then we have some issue with the router

Port forwarding won't allow individual apps

The 2wire HG is an old 2Wire, they've come out with several models since that one. It sounds like the firmware isnt working correctly. You can try resetting it to factory default. If you do that, hold the reset button down for at least 30 seconds. 2wires take a good 2-3 minutes to re-syncronize.

When you have solid green lights, open Internet Explorer and it will say page cant be displayed. Clean out the address bar up top where you normally type www stuff (and make sure its the address bar, not the seach bar so many people use). Type to get into the router. Run the system setup wizzard on the right. When it asks you to put in a password, it means make one up. Then you need to click on run system set up wizzard again. The key code should already be in there and end in F2NV. Click next, set your time zone, click next, put in your userID and password, click next, after the reds dots, you should be online. Now go back in and try to open your ports. If they dont stay open this time, then you need to think about swapping the router out. The newest model is the 2701.

Instructions for RP614, MR814, WGR101, WGR614, WGT624, WGT634U, WGU624, WGM124, or WPN824 These routers do port forwarding by assigning port numbers to a "service" that is associated with the application you want to run.
To Let an Application Use Port Forwarding
  1. Type the router's address in an Internet browser's address bar. (By default the router's address is The Setup Wizard appears.
  2. Enter the router's username and password.
  3. Under Advanced, click Port Forwarding on the left menu bar.
  4. A Port Forwarding Screen (Varies Slightly by Router)

  5. From the Service & Game (or Service Name) pull down, select the service that you will host. The services the router knows about are listed here. If the service does not appear in the drop down, add a service as described in the next section, then return to this step.
  6. Enter the IP address of your local server in the Server IP Address box.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Logout to exit from router settings.
To Add a Service for These Routers
To define a service not in the Service Name list, determine what port numbers are used by the service.
  1. Click Add Custom Service.
  2. Enter the first port number in an unused Start Port box.
  3. If only one port number is to be forwarded, enter the same number in End Port. To specify a range of ports, enter the last port to be forwarded in the End Port box.
  4. Enter any name you choose for the service.
  5. Click Apply.

first you need to call your ISP to help you bridge the modem. After bridging, follow this steps;

Port Forwarding

A. Determining the IP Address and MAC Address of a Computer:

Note: Please use the computer for which the Ports are to be opened:

For Windows 2000/XP users:

1. Please click on Start and select Run.
2. Type in cmd and click on OK.
3. In the Command Prompt, please type ipconfig/all then press Enter or Return key.
4. Please make sure that the Ethernet adapter has an IP Address that is the same range as the router (e.g. for the computer and for the router).
5. Please note down the IP address and Physical address.

B. Reserving an IP Address:

1. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing or in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. When the setup page opens, click on LAN IP Setup under Advanced tab.
5. Click on Add under Address Reservation.
6. Under Address Reservation window, please select the radio button of the computer you wish to add from the Address Reservation Table.
7. If the computer you want is not on the list, please click on the Refresh button to update the table.
8. If the computer is still not on the Address Reservation Table, please type in the IP Address, MAC Address (Physical Address), and Device Name of the computer you wish to add.
9. Click the Add button when done.

C. Opening Pre-Defined Ports for Internet Services:

1. Click on the option with the name Port Forwarding/Port Triggering under the Advanced menu.
2. Please select the service type Port Forwarding. The router pre-defined services are listed there.
3. From the Service Name pull down list, select the service that needs to be hosted.
4. Enter the IP address of the computer in the Server IP Address box.
5. Click the Add or Apply button.
6. Repeat all steps to open more ports.

Note: If the name of the Internet service does not appear in the drop down list, you may manually open the ports for that Internet service. Please follow the steps below:

D. Opening Ports for Games, Applications or Custom Ports:

1. Click on Add Custom Service button.
2. Type the service name in the Service Name box and the lower range numbers in the Starting Port box.
3. If the application uses only a single port; type in the same port number in the Ending Port box.
4. If the application uses a range of ports; type in the higher range numbers in the Ending Port box.
5. Type the IP address of the computer in the Server IP Address box. Click Apply button.
6. It will then refresh to the Port Forwarding page, and will show the list of all ports opened in tabulation.
7. Repeat all steps to add more ports for more services.

E. To Edit or Delete a Service Entry:

1. Click on the Radio Button that needs to be Edited /Deleted, under the Port Forwarding page.
2. Modify the information from the Service Name, Starting Port, Ending Port, and the Server IP Address, and then click the Apply button.
