Are you a computer whizz? (do you know a lot about computers like me?)

Could be the Cpu fan (Central Processing Unit)
That could be lethal to the laptop.
Just as well it's a IBM other wise . . .
As for the error it means the time and date are not set.
soloution: run the bios setup utillity to reset time and date.

If you can boot to safe mode, try doing a restore.

When you turn on the system, just past the POST (before windows loads), hit the F8 key to get the menu between normal boot and safe mode.

When prompted, select SAFE MODE. Don't select safe mode with command prompt, or with networking. Just SAFE MODE.

Use the arrow keys to select SAFE MODE. If you need to log in, do so and proceed to launch windows.

Windows should launch in Safe mode. If it does, proceed to click on START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM RESTORE.

Select RESTORE MY COMPUTER TO AN EARLIER TIME. Click on NEXT. If you can, select a BOLD date preferably before your issue. Click NEXT. System will load some files, reboot and reload.

If you can't get to safe mode, there may be other problems holding your system up. Did you load anything prior to the messages?

Not booting up

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

I am getting a blue scree error on my IBM Thinkpad R51 that says unmountable_Boot_Volume. It will not let me run on save mode...it brings me back to the blue scree error message. I have windows xp

Unmountable boot volume = The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
To fix that do the following:
1.Put the CD first in the boot order and boot from the XP install disk.
2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3.Select your partition - it should be C
4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.
6.At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
This takes a bit longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.

IBM Thinkpad 600e (2645),error 189 and could not installing win98

Usually this means a hardware failure. I would suggest reseating the CMOS battery overnight to reset the system. Also you might want to replace it as well. It could also be more serious such as a motherboard component failure.
Also IBM error code # 189 according to Scott Mueller's Upgrading and Repairing PC's (8th edition) - "Excessive incorrect password attempts." Is there a password on your CMOS ?
Also try hitting ESC key on boot to bypass. Good luck!

Ibm t22 thinkpad laptop error 0175 crc1

Ok hm...

Sounds expensive, I'm afraid!

Here is IBM'smag-glass_10x10.gif explanation of the error codes.

What your machine is telling you is that a chip on your Motherboard is faulty and the only way to repair it is a new system board.

It is probably worth finding out how much IBM would charge you to repair it but I very much doubt you'd get much change from £500.

Error Code 07 301

With IBM Thinkpad,it telling you that some hardware is faulty, check your keyboard to make sure nothing is stuck. Also it could also be your trackpoint. Usually, replacing the damaged part gets rid of the error! However there is a bypass key sequence that allows your to continue booting the system even though it gives you error. I'm not 100% sure of what it is but somthing like ESC at boot or F1 or maybe your need the boot to the error page then press ok, then when the system comes up again press f1 or esc then. You'll have to play around with the key sequence a bit. But to get rid of the error forever you need to replace the damaged part! Regards, Armando
