Question about Fargo DTC300 Monochrome Card Printer
HI I HAVE A FARGO DTC300 AND WHEN IT PRINTS OUT THE CARDS IT HAS MAJOR DRAG LINES DIRECTLY THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE IMAGES... IS THERE ANYWAY TO ELEMINATE THIS ISSUE WITHOUT HAVING TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE PRINTER HEAD?
Lines running the full width of the card when printing is virtually always traceable back to a problem with the print-head. Sometimes, it is just a dirty print-head, which is easily resolved by cleaning with supplies contained in Fargo's DTC printer cleaning kit (#086177), or equivalent. However, if cleaning does not resolve the issue, then you will very likely have to replace the print-head itself. These are not cheap and, with the age of a DTC300, it might be time to seek a replacement unit rather than sink money into a device that is well past its prime.

Pls completely uninstall printer driver using printer disk, disconnect the printer, download compatible full driver from website and install it according to instruction....

SOURCE: bad print heads
This is a continuing problem we have with our Fargo DTC550 printer. If you remove the printhead from the printer and look at the underside you will see a nick on the head in the same area you are getting a line on your card. Fargo claims we damaged the head due to not keeping the printer clean even though we clean at every ribbon change. I believe that the damage happens when a plastic debris (from the plastic card) gets between the card and the head. You must check your card stock to make sure there is no plastic debris on them. Bottom line, you have to replace the head and at the time it costs $700 per head.

You might go to the print driver settings to change the way the printer prints the card. This can be found in the printing preferences. Go to the device options tab and choose "rotate front 180 degrees". Then print a card. This may fix the problem.
If not, try downloading the latest print driver from www.fargo.com.
