Question about Washing Machines
Cycle finished but door won't open. The washing is still inside.
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.
Releasing the door latch is different on various washing machine models. If this answer does not help, send me the model number.
1.) Unplug your machine.
2.) This is a two person job. You are going to tilt the washing machine up 45 degrees on the handle side. Do not lay the unit on its side, you may damage some of the internal components. There will be some water still in the washing machine, between a quart and a gallon.
3.) Reach up from the bottom to the back of the door handle. You may have a rectangular plastic box with a cross bar in the middle to pull down on or another mechanical mechanism you can move.
Once again I do not have your model number.

1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
2. Remove the front lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about quarter inch or until a click is heard.
6. The door may now be opened. Your door lock is broken; actually you have to wait 2 minutes after the wash is over to try the door. If you cannot have access through under the machine, you can try through the top. Some models have a cord behind the dispenser tray.
Sites for spares.

If there is still water in the washing machine above a certain level, it will not allow the door to be opened.
To open the door, Open the hatch to the drain pump at the lower left front of the washing machine. If there is water in the machine and you can't put machine in drain, then you can detach the drain hose and drain the water into a container.
make sure that power is disconnected.
With the hatch open, remove the screws holding the red plastic handle in place. Pull the handle and the door will open. Put the handle back into its slot and put screws back in place.
Check the drain pump while you're there to make sure it is free of foreign objects
