If it fits it should work but if it doesn't fit don't try to use it.Different makes use different colors but if it is shaped differently don't use it.

You probably need to rinse the fuel tank out, To check if this will solve your problem disconnect the fuel line from fuel tank going to the fuel filter, remove gas cap and blow air thru line back into tank. This should clear any sediment impeding fuel flow temporarily. Reconnect line and start motor. If it runs longer than it has been then your fuel tank is in need of cleaning.

SOURCE: I was given a Case tractor. It needed a fuel

Is your fuel pump working? are you getting fuel to the carb?

1. check for spark
2. check for compression in all cylinders
3. check carb (if it's been a long time since it was last started, you will need to just take the carb apart and clean it or get a carb rebuild kit. rebuild kit is easiest route and once you do that, you are done fussing with it.
4. Diagnose the problem.
a. try starting fluid directly into the carb. If it fires up then quits you have a fuel delivery problem. Once you figure out that, you can trace the problem back from the motor to the tank.
5. If you don't have any spark, try new plugs, then try new wires, then start going over your electrical system

SOURCE: After about 30 minutes engine

Typically a surge is caused by a lean condition. I'd say the float is set to low and this is causing the engine to lean out & when you apply the choke it richens it back up.and the surge stops.

SOURCE: When you engage the mower

Fuel mixture is wrong - your carb needs cleaning - specifically the jet.
At idle - it works fine - but under load it bogs down because the demand for fuel is increased... but not delivered.

My 2003 Mazda mpv is started it sputters and when given gas it bogs down

First i would replace the fuel filter. If the fuel filter is clogged it will not let ample amount of fuel to the engine. Very cheap part and usually is easy to replace. Might want to get the fuel pump checked out.

What does fuel filter look like

Depends. There are several different types of fuel filters, and depending on the make/model/year of your car, it can vary from being made of metal, glass or plastic. I'm thinking that you want to locate and inspect your fuel filter, but you haven't given enough information about your car. Please give the car details mentioned above, and the engine size would help also.

Advice based on what little facts given is worth every penny. Raining or not, eng temp should not have any difference. First verify coolant level. if thats ok, turn on A/C and make sure the radiator fan operates, if not, rap on it with a hammer or wrench, if it runs afre you rap on it, replace the fan motor. If its operating OK, then let car get HOT, when its approx 220f the fan should come on,the air coming from the fan should be HOT, if its cool, or luke warm, then the radiator may be stopped up. The thermostat could be a problem, and it should be replaced just as insurance, that its operating OK. . If the fuel filter hasnt been replaced in the last 30k miles , replace that also. I',m not saying its going to fix anything, but it needs to be ruled out, since you have no way to check fuel pressure.

Not really over the short term, if the vent discharges back into the room. If it is of the type that discharges through the ceiling, you could have grease build up in the vent over time. I found replacement generic filters the other day at Lowe's. But, I wasn't looking for filters at the time. Check there or a similar store.

Good luck,

18.5 hp Intek (Craftsman) runs fine for 10 minutes and then sputters(like a fuel delivery problem) and then dies, won't restart till it cools. I replaced the fuel filter to no avail. New fuel pump? how...

Three days ago I replaced the section of fuel hose on one of these between the fuel filter and carb. It had cracks that would let air into it causing a similar situation to yours. I found the problem by injecting air from an air hose nozzle into the gas tank with a rag taking up the major dimension difference between the air nozzle and the 2 inch gas cap which was removed. Be extremely careful not to blow up the tank or otherwise cause excessive pressure on the fuel system, but when I then looked for any leaks, I found a half-cup of gasoline on the floor of the shop under the carb area which is plenty dangerous enough. I you find ANY wetness along the length of the fuel hose it is time for a new hose, mine cost me $1.60 a foot at NAPA for generic 1/4" gas hose. You don't have to pay more.

As a prophylactic measure you also don't need any excuse for just changing out your old fuel lines...
